      NewsreadeR -

Glad to see the updated response fom sky - I hope they stick to it in the letters.

I think Sky were / are making a big mistake here. Following recent price rises, there are many people, like myself, who are only maintaining their Sky TV subscription becuse of the cheap broadband. With a rise from 5 to 10 for me, this might have been the last straw - I'm already looking hard at Freesat HD and I certainly don't want Sky Talk. Now , hopefully, I won't have to think about that for a while.

Just as a footnote- I have been very happy with the speed & quality of my Sky broadband service, getting 7+ Mbps on a Mid service. It would be a shame to have to move

I'm not speaking for Jennifer but I don't have either of them and don't plan to either.

Sorry - I thought you would gather from my last post that some of us are still unhappy. No I do not have Multi-room or HD but I have been Loyal. All I get from this change is a 60/year extra charge.

AND I cannot take Sky Talk even if I wanted to as my contract with BT is for 12 months.

      Jennifer and Alan

I do understand what you are saying, some people who cannot take Sky Talk and do not have a Multiroom or a HD subscription are still not getting any price protection. I still believe that Sky should have looked after all current customers.

I am not even going to try and justify this decision, as I cannot. Although, I am still convinced Sky's rises are just the start of the ISP's increasing their prices.

It maybe prudent to try the old, leaving scenario and see what sweeteners if any are offered. But there again Sky could call your bluff.

I agree with that. Maybe Sky does not see Broadband as a stand alone business, rather it is seen a conduit through which to sell other more profitable services.

its clear as day they trying to get more people on sky talk, perhaps they lost a lot following the 1280 changes.

Even with these changes people who dont have sky talk, sky broadband remains very cheap.

Seems to me a pure case of blackmail to me! Take our talk service or we will double your broadband charge's. They obviously think they will up there talk customer base, but I personally hope it back fires on them. I was looking at the amount of sky channels I actually watch for my 30 odd pound a month and it's not many! so ditching Sky completely and going FreeSat with O2 broadband could save me quite a few pennys a month! I've had problems with my Sky+ box this week after Sky cocked it up with there lastest firmware upgrade I made 3 phone calls to Sky trying to find out what was going on and I must say there customer service was absolutely appauling!

Re: Update on Sky Broadband pricing changes

all I can say for Orange is that they have the most attrocious customer service on both BB and phone.

It took me 3 months for them to link up my BB and phone account to get the cheaper rate. The BB team said it was the mobile teams problem and the mobile team said it was the BB problem.

The amount of phone calls I made, failed promises of call backs etc etc was a joke..... and I'm afraid that is the same experience I have always had with Orange.... but I have got a great phone deal with them.

In all my dealings with SkyCS, I can only give them praise. I suppose it's all luck of the draw, but SkyCS have always been great in 15 years with them and Orange have always been awful.
