This forum, informed though it is, is probably representative of a small proportion of Sky Broadband users only and on that basis I would be surprised (pleasantly) if the powers took any real notice of any pleas submitted. Some people will vote with their feet, but I doubt there will be enough to make Sky take note.
I believe you are in fact correct. However, at least we can say we tried. It would be great to have 1.7 million members though

What would be crafty would be for o2 to run a special offer for those who want to transfer from sky following this silly decision.

Even a tiny price change would sway more and more people away frmom sky to their network...

Re: Update on Sky Broadband pricing changes

I've only just joined Sky - so by the sounds of it I'm not going to affected by the increase. But it's very interesting to read everyone's comments...

I switched from Tiscali where they also forced there customers to take the call package. I think what Sky are doing is pretty standard really. The Max product is much, much better than my 2Mbps connection with Tiscali was.

Also - and the main point of my post - when I signed up I was offered Half price line rental for 6 months - only 30, but better than a kick in the teeth!

So I say that the existing customers that are feeling hard done by should put Sky to the test and give them a call. See if they will give you an offer to stay. It's always the same with these companies - if you call them up and complain they usually have some sort of "deal" to pacify you.

Oh I don't think you need to be a member of this site to notice when you are being shafted - SkyUser members find out a little sooner, that's all. I'm sure that when Sky send out the details of their blackmail, many of their customers will feel the same as I do. Unfortunately not all of them will have an LLU competitor at their exchange, but fortunately I do. If you think that big companies can't be shaken by the reactions of its customers, just Google Gerald Ratner

Re: Update on Sky Broadband pricing changes

I do not fully understand all the chat here. I calculate that the O2 Broadband alternative for example would only make sense for those on Mid/Max Sky products.

I have Sky BB base and BT phone. I am not considering Sky Talk as I have a contract with BT and do not like the withdrawal of the 1280 facility that Sky just forced upon their users.

I have had Sky TV for 5 years and BB for 3 - so my cost will go up 5/month in March?

Also - is it legal to say "your price is going up unless you buy an extra product"?

All broadband packages, except Connect, are increasing by 5. In other words, unless you take Sky Talk, there is no more free broadband.

"Price freezes for loyal customers" who happen to be on one or more of the top of the range products already.
