Sky To Buy Tiscali Broadband?
It would appear that Sky are in 'exclusive' talks to acquire Tiscali's UK broadband division, in a deal rumoured to be worth £450m
Tiscali currently have approximately 1.84m subscribers. If Sky were to acquire those broadband customers, Sky would then become the third largest ISP in the UK. Not bad for a couple of years work.
Hopefully, if the deal goes through, Tiscali's customers would then be ported onto Sky's network, which is one of the best in Europe.

Re: Sky To Buy Tiscali Broadband?
We have asked Sky for a statement or further information. Unfortunately, there is no news to report from Sky. However, we were forwarded the URL of the Tiscali statement.

Re: Sky To Buy Tiscali Broadband?
Tiscali have their own LLU enabled network, which at one time was used by Plusnet. I don't know if this is still the case, but if it is, it will create some complications.
I meant to add, Tiscali turned down a bid of £600 million from Vodaphone, so it may come to nothing.

Re: Sky To Buy Tiscali Broadband?
Luckily Sky are in a no lose situation, they have the money to do it, and if Tiscali walk away from it, Tiscali lose out. Sky really have nothing to lose.
I truly hope Sky do get Tiscali, at long last those on Tiscali, would then get a state of the art network, for their connections.

Yes they may well get the state of the art network, but as Sky users we may well begin to see the start of congestion for all of us who are on the sky network currently. Not good news.

Re: Sky To Buy Tiscali Broadband?
From what I have heard, we don't have to worry about congestion for a long time yet.
VM have more customers than Sky at the moment, with less capacity on their network than Sky have spare.

Re: Sky To Buy Tiscali Broadband?
forgive me for sounding stupid, but on exchanges that have Tiscali LLU, won't sky just inherit that capacity and as such it wouldn't have the slightest impact on SkyBB customers (even if Sky didn't have loads of capacity)?
