      A Sky+HD Team Update

      Even more HD channels
We are back with further details on upcoming HD channels coming your way.
Today sees the launch of Sky Movies Action & Thriller HD, Sky Movies Modern Greats HD and Sky Movies Drama HD. With Sky Movies Comedy HD, Sky Movies Sci-Fi & Horror HD, Sky Movies Family HD and Sky Real Lives HD following later this month, bringing the total number of HD channels available on Sky to 26.
The new channels mean that Sky will offer the most comprehensive HD movie service in the UK with over 500 films showing a month in high definition across 9 dedicated HD Sky Movies channels.
Furthermore last week Sky Movies launched the HD Friday Premiere slot, which showcases modern greats premiering in HD in the UK for the first time. Upcoming highlights include Apollo 13, Back To The Future, X-Men, Unforgiven, Predator, Die Hard and Taxi Driver.

      Sound Synchronisation
We regularly read your comments and are very sorry that some of you have recently experienced an issue with sound synchronisation on some channels on the Sky+HD platform. We have been working hard to identify and resolve this matter for you as quickly as possible.
On the 18th September we rolled out a configuration change for the issue. We have been closely monitoring your feedback on this. Initial customer feedback has been positive and we are pleased to see evidence of this on the forums. However we are continuing to monitor the situation, and we are investigating options to make further improvements.
In addition, we will follow up with an FAQ next week on this topic to provide you with further information and assistance.

      Thanks
      Sky+HD Team

nice to see the lip sync problems acknowledged.

Just looked at the line up on the new HD movie channels and thought 'great', Casino and Platoon both on.... checked the synopsis and neither have the HD flag or DD flag, shame.

I was under the impression the lip sync problem was linked to the Pace HD box, is this not actually the case?.

My installation date for HD is 24th October, is there anything I should check before the engineer leaves?.

There's nothing to check really, its in your face when it happens.

I know for a fact that Sky are working on this issue, so hopefully it will be sorted out soon.

I never really noticed it on the Thompson box, and I had that a year before I got the Pace, which is definitely noticeable. I could ring up Sky and kick off, but I opted for the newer box, knowing full well, the issue was there. That doesn't negate those who didn't know, if that makes sense. (and because I wanted to make a tutorial on upgrading the HDD)

      Re: A Sky+HD Team Update

Hi all, this is my 1st post on this forum. I have just had Sky HD installed (well, Tuesday) but all i have had since then is massive, noticeable sound sync problems on my hd box.

I don't know who makes it but it is apparently made by a new supplier, not thompson. Is there anything i can do to improve the situation whilst Sky work on the problem?

      Re: A Sky+HD Team Update

Hello all, I upgraded from Sky + to Sky +HD last Sunday and had a new Samsung box installed which displays the lip sync problems described by so many others on this and other forums. A call to the Tier 2 support number at Sky was initially answered with a blank refusal to accept that there are ongoing issues with lip syncing on HD channels and a supervisor then agreed that there have been some problems but that an engineer visit would be arranged to replace the Samsung box with a Thompson model. I am not happy about this but does anyone have any advice on whether I should retain the Samsung box, which is good in every other respect, and hope that Sky fix the problem through software downloads, or risk a Thompson box that probably won't fix the lip sync issue and may have other problems as well? Is it possible that a replacement box will resolve the HD syncing problem?

      Re: A Sky+HD Team Update

My Thomson box has showed no signs of this problem on any channel at any time. Iv'e had it a month or so, and it was brand new when I fitted it, It did not come from Sky,but an independent retailer.

      Re: A Sky+HD Team Update

Dates mention have been Oct/Nov/Apr/May..... but none of these have come from official sources.

When sky are ready, then they will make an official announcement, just like the post that started this thread.
