Maybe you should edit your options to view 40 posts per page, that way you would only have 2 pages Saves a lot of clicking.

I don't think much has changed really, the BPI were already monitoring P2P and torrent users. The only difference is that the participating ISPs will send you a letter telling you to desist or they will do nothing. They have still not agreed to supply the policing authorities with names and addresses unless under court order.

One rather annoying thing that always comes up is that illegal downloading is costing the industry 6.5billion or some other very large figure. Do they really think the ones who are doing illegal downloads would actually buy the music they download? I think not! Most of it is simply to fill up iPods etc, with thousands of tunes(?) that will never be listened to, just so the can say "I've got 50,000 songs how many have you got".

Re: Sky Sign Up With BPI To Help Stop Piracy

What makes me wonder how they are going to monitor this off the top of my head I can think of these legal downloaders.

World of Warcraft patches (11+ million users)
      BBC iPlayer
      Sky player

The ISP's would have to be very very careful over this letter they would send as I would bust a gut if I was accused of something and I would take the ISP and the BPI down to the small claims court for deformation of character if I was accused of illegally downloading films/music etc.

I have never downloaded illegal music/films etc and I have no idea where to start.

Anywyays the so called Digital rights protection on music files is putting people off buying online (although it is a doddle removing it) It makes me laugh that you own a CD but they claim that you don't own a MP3 you bought online.
      CD wins everytime then.

To the best of my knowledge they are not even monitoring Downloads, it's those uploading that are going to be reported!

Personally i think the only poeple who'll complain about this are the ones downloading those rather large "hi def" pictures to view on a 19 inch monitor we heard of a long time back in here!
Don't have a problem with it myself.

      You upload as you download.

Content companies plan to send us the IP addresses of sites which they say are being used to offer illegal content for others to upload. They find these IP addresses by monitoring the Intenet. TalkTalk are able to match the IP address to a individual broadband connection, they will then send a letter to the owner of that account.

Would using peerguardian 2 stop this?

Peer Guardian, is only as good as the last database of blocked IP's from enforcement companies.

Re: Sky Sign Up With BPI To Help Stop Piracy

      Just me thinking.....

To find out the IP address, that happen to be downloading / uploading a torrent, don't you also have to be downloading / uploading the same torrent at the same time?

If that is the case, lets see this goes to court. And the BPI have to admit to breaking the law to find out who else is break the law?

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't that entrapment?
