I have downloaded music in the past. But i also feel that the biggest crooks are those like the cd producers who charge far too much for a disc and the artists who earn millions upon millions by over charging the fans.
      Just my opinion.

piracy is always a problem thease days with downloading free stuff but the thing is how do they stop it its almost impossible soon torrent sites will do proxy or somthing to hide themselfs so they will be undetected which could happen

Re: Sky Sign Up With BPI To Help Stop Piracy

How would they be able to tell if I download a Rapidshare file, whether it is a legal one or not?

OR whether it is what I intended to download?

I try very often to download Linux distro file but they keep turning out to be porn, I'm getting really fed up with this

Does anyone know if there has been any official position from Sky on the restriction of the use of IP masking/encryption services? (or if there is an unofficial position?)

The 2000 Terrorism Act says that ISP's have to log everything you do - sites visited, times, etc. They have to hand this information over on demand. This has now been extended now that the Digital Economy Bill is now law, and it's now "Three strikes and you're out". Also, it's up to you to prove your innocence.

Smile Re: Sky Sign Up With BPI To Help Stop Piracy

Well this is totally wrong and a infringement of our privacy, lets say for instance as a example and this is far more serious than a download of a movie or two,
If a convicted child offender gets put on a sex offenders register he does not at all get 24hr monitored ie spied on by either police and all relevant crime proventsion organisations, but us law abiding citizens who are hardworking and pay our dues to society are paying money to get the the big brother treatment, we pay sky alot of money for services that are sometimes are not
allways 100% perfect , hence sky may be getting with the goverment program and showing its willing to help prevent piracy and joinining bpi and i qoute at the same time if customers feel if there privacy is breached they may feel that a jump ship tatic and take all there services to another avenue which is fair enough
it upsets me that we will be getting monitored in our everyday lifes and as far as i am concerned isp role is to provide our connections and keep them in good order and lets digital right holders do there own work ie making it more affordable
after all we are in a recession. Top and bottom people say if you are not doing anything illegal the bpi should not matter to you, which is fair enough comment
but we are slowly losing our rights in this country and have a say over nothing its like a mushroom really we are kept in the dark and fed on s*** decisions are made well before we have a chance to object well ive had my say it may be negative i feel we getting treated as a convict before we entering a url in our browsers. All i can say is power to the people lmao.
