I was not aiming my comment at you in particular, but you must remember that free counties have Laws and suggesting that they should be broken, I think may in itself be against the Law.

      .
Watching Iplayer, 4OD, Sky Anytime. Web browsing email, skype.
Especially when you have more the one computer sharing the bandwidth.

World of Warcraft and other online games, 25-30 meg an hour plus most of them have huge patches and online distributions.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

i think this thing is a load of bs, now we'll end up getting letters accusing us of illegally downloading when we havent, then we'll have to phone up the useless support and try to get them to realise we havent done anything. Why should they be allowed to see what we're downloading anyway, such a load of BS, next we wont be allowed to do anything on the internet without being sent a warning letter.

Also maybe if companies put the prices of movies, games, music etc. down then these people (who are idiots making it bad for everyone else) wouldnt feel the need to download things illegally.

Have you ever used a torrent? You can see everyone's IP who is sharing the file. Without any specialist software. Its not rocket science to copy and paste the IP and then send it to the ISP with a day, date and time, and the file name. Even I could do it. It's not a case of spying, its there for everyone to see.

The Scene as it is known was created to showcase cracking/hacking/supplying talents and not meant as a piracy group to make money. But people soon seen this as a huge money maker be it selling the pirated stuff or creating websites put on some ads and watch people flock to their site and the money.

A lot of sites have access to the private FTP's (Paid access which is against scene rules but it happenes!) and can supply to your average joe very fast!
This Scene business is pretty enlightening, first time I heard about it. If the rights companies want something substantial to come out of this then I guess they will have to go after this group. Because looking at how well they are organised, I feel they might have already come up with alternatives to tackle this move from the rights companies.

A lot of software / films get shipped to China, where they are copied ready for both Cinema / DVD release or before they get shipped to the shops for Music release.

In China the (c) laws don't cover a lot, so the information finds it way very quickly onto the torrent uploads and websites.

James67 No I don't believe they will, but what might happen if enough people vote against the government in power, is that we the people of the UK get a chance to decide if we want to be in Europe or not!
Well the Cinema owners should look into improving their prices and come out with innovative ways to promote sales. I would like to see changes like - say if you go to a movie and you love it and then want a DVD or a digital copy (DRM free) of the movie on your mobile device then these guys can offer it at discounted rate than the market or stuff similar to that because that is what people want with so many options for entertainment

As far as China is concerned, I am surprised by that, China's Internet is the one which is heavily monitored and controlled by their government and they should be able to control it if most of the torrents originate from there. I always thought the bulk of this activity is from US.
