    Sony's GO!View launches with Sky

    This is a discussion on Sony's GO!View launches with Sky within the Sky news and announcements forums, part of the SkyUser Announcements category; I think you're looking at it from the wrong angle. It's essentially Sky Anytime, but for a Sony specific customer-base. ...

      I think you're looking at it from the wrong angle. It's essentially Sky Anytime, but for a Sony specific customer-base. Sky hasn't done anything new; this is Sony driven.

      I mean, you're not going to go out and buy a PSP just because you want access GO!VIEW (of course I'm sure there will be people who will because they like and want to use the concept, and it fits into their lifestyle).

      Re: Sony's GO!View launches with Sky

      Some more information sent to us about GO!View and of course unofficial.

      Essentially GO!VIEW has released, albeit a controlled release. The website is still marked BETA and there are still a few flaws here and there, but to be fair, no more than Sky Anytime/SkyPlayer, and all told, possibly a lot less as various tweaks have been made.

      It's only open to UK and ROI resident users due to Sky only being licensed to provide content in the two countries. That said, users can of course download and transfer to PSP and then head off abroad on holiday or business trips with UK content and watch it legally.

      The service is aimed at (well everyone obviously) but with expected target audiences of:

      * Commuters
      * University students
      * People sharing a house (ie. access to TV)
      * Frequent travellers

      With more ad hoc users being:

      *Female partners of men using the TV for PS3 (ie. women grabbing some time alone)
      *Family holidays (where the children need to be occupied in the back of the car)
