Re: 1st July Sky HD will change to Sky + HD.

umm I saw that as a level playing field bar the install charges. Remember as a new customer you get the discount applied, as an existing customer you have already had the discount when you first connected to Sky.

What Sky should do is an option to buy HD with a postage / carriage charge for existing customers so that that customer could just swap his or hers Sky+ box for HD.

No need for an engineer and I don't think anyone would object to a carriage charge.

Re: 1st July Sky HD will change to Sky + HD.

Now we have new, pointless names complete with a complicated, obscure pricing structure. As an existing Sky TV customer, is obtaining SKY HD cheaper or what? What I do know that it is going to cost me more than a new customer. Is this fair? I think not!

So even more examples where existing customers get fed up with Sky pricing and go over to Freesat. Was hoping for free HD subs sometime this year look like that not going to happen now.

Re: 1st July Sky HD will change to Sky + HD.

the problem is that Sky+ was charging £10 / month for several years before it got scrapped last summer and I don't suppose that Sky will drop the HD anytime soon.

Although the boxes have now dropped to £150 so either the cost of the new Thompson or Samsungs are significantly cheaper or that Sky is subsidising them even more, and if that is the case no drop of the £10 HD charge will be in sight as they will want to get something back.

Re: 1st July Sky HD will change to Sky + HD.

Being really thick..... if i want to upgrade to HD from Sky+ (to go with my nice new 42in plasma that arrives on sat), how much will it cost if i go thru sky (incl installation of swapping over a box!!!). I (obviously) have BB Max and Sky Freetalk.

Ebay seems to be around 280 (incl p&p).

Cheers guys.

Re: 1st July Sky HD will change to Sky + HD.

Reading the above to me would mean:

Standalone Sky+ HD box - £150 (new & existing)
Install £60 (existing customers)
And then the subs at £10 per mth

Unless I am misreading it.
