i voted no, I feel all the limits need to be doubled across the board my reasons are simple...

      BBC iplayer
      Sky player
      ITV player
Full games and demos for all gaming platforms
DVD rental company's will no doubt start having a downloadable rental service (Xbox does)
and various other legal streaming/downloading stuff,

We are rapidly moving toward a stage in the history of the internet where more and more services and products are available via the internet and Isp's need to realize this and give more generous caps,

In busy modern households there will be 4 or more "things" connected to the internet all sending and receiving data and slowly eating away at the cap,
a modern internet needs a modern cap.

a modern internet needs a modern cap.
But when we get a modern price, people will say its too expensive. If people want more than 2GB download, they have the option to pay for Mid or Max with the higher limits.

Even 2Gb for Base is to low, Windows aupdates are getting bigger websites are having more streaming content, All through internet history the faster the connection the bigger and more content the site has,

you wouldnt have had sites like we have now back in dial up days they would just take to long to load.

Dont get me wrong I am all for targetting these people who go over the limit but theres a big difference betwen 40 GB for connect and the rumored 250 GB for the max package . I am sure if all connect customers had a choice then for the price of it we would happily go onto the Max package.
I agree it's not fair, but base it on business need, fairness doesn't come in to play.
If Sky have to pay BT for the capacity, still not sure where I saw this, it seems foolish not to impose your caps on the areas that are costing you money.

Satdish - Yes 2gb is very low, but people have decided, for whatever reason, to take Base and should understand what those limits are. If 2gb isn't enough go get Mid or Max packages!

Re: Sky To Enforce Usage Caps?

caps fair enough to me, although I voted yet I have the opinion that if max really is a 250gig limit they should stop calling it unlimited the day they start enforcing it. I will have more respect if they honest and openly say its a 250 gig limit if thats the case.

The 2 gig cap is low but its a base level product that is a free addon for sky tv subscribers, it has to be low so anyone who uses the internet even moderatly is enouraged to upload, if you make the base pack good enough for more moderate use then the whole product line becomes less viable.

Re: Sky To Enforce Usage Caps?

sky for the past year have never imposed caps afaik and tbh the limits seem adequate [for 10 a month i could download 250gig [which means that sky basically charge you 4 pence a gig [if my counting is right]mid its 12.5 p per gig connect is 42.5p per gig and base your gettting what little it is for nowt

if someone downloads a tb of info then that works out at 1p a gig try going to other isps and see what they are offering [be is unlimited for more money as is o2 ]but have the usual fup policy
so for 4p a gig i have a bargain and if sky need to impose limits then i cant see a problem with that as long as theyre fair
also a 10 a month will hardly buy you a gallon of petrol soon

My preference would be a counter on the router itself, with built-in code to reset at midnight on the last day of the month.

I hate little gay applications like this that sit in the taskbar!!!
