Yup, the new firmware does not have the "Sky-ised" user interface that the V2 routers have.

Last year we were being told that we'd be getting the new firmware if not before the end of that year, then early in the new year. So we really ought not be too surprised if, as usual, things get delayed, and then delayed some more.

On Thursday last week, we were told within the "next few days"

It has to be imminent now.

Sky or any of our contacts have never said that the Sky imagery will be available on this round of FW upgrades. It has always been told to us, that this is pencilled in for the next version of updated FW for the V1 router.

I think the priority was to get a working FW that solved most of the problems, then concentrate on cosmetics.

and i dont recon sky are going to give us the firmware to at least next week now
Its coming, we've all waited 18 months or so, a few more days is irrelevant really.

Re: Stop Press - New FW - Stop Press

Those who are having problems will have been having them for the last 18 months or so. A few more days is not the issue. If Sky did not release the FW for download, they may have had to wait for a few more months.

I too had problems on the V1 and cannot wait to be able to use the new FW. Fact of the matter is, it is being released for download. Which is good news for anyone who may have issues. Like I said, I would rather wait a few more days, than months.

It sounds so reasonable when you put it like that, but personally speaking, given the months upon months of lousy, second-rate service, I might have expected a little more urgency from Sky.

When my company has a software licensee who is screaming out for a bug fix, we'll work evenings and weekends if we have to, to sort out their problem. We don't just down tools at 5.30pm on a Friday night.

This sounds like I am favour of Sky dragging their heels. I am most definitely not.

I am just trying to get across, the fact that is now going to be released for download. No one expected that to happen 7 days ago.

We were all prepared to wait for the Exchange Roll out method. Although we were moaning it could be up to 3 months away. This is now no longer the case.

Yes Sky could have done things quicker, but in reality they are seen to take their time.

The fact that they are annoucing they will give a download link to the flash image makes me want it even more. But i don't understand why its taking so long to link the flash image? Its not that hard to stick a file onto a server and just link the bleedin thing.
