Re: Stop Press - New FW - Stop Press

Why would you want to? If you want to use it to connect to Sky all you have to do is obtain your username and password from the 934 and put them into your 834. You can upgrade your 834 to what FW you like, either from the Netgear site or a custom version.

Using a non-Sky router is of course, strictly against the T & Cs.

Re: Stop Press - New FW - Stop Press

The user name and password that are effectively built in to a Sky router are specific to each router, and so unless the router was supplied to you by Sky, it will not connect. The box the router comes in has to be scanned for its details to be entered onto Sky's authentication servers.

It is possible to "trick" the router into connecting. With the router running its standard Netgear firmware, you can enter the user name and password from the Sky DG934G router onto it, and then install the new Sky firmware. You'd have to use the Netgear Recovery Utility to do it and some people have had serious issues getting that to work. Also, if you were ever to reset the router to factory details, it would no longer connect to the Internet.

Given that the 934 is running Sky's own firmware too, I really can't see the benefit of trying to force the Sky DG834GT firmware onto your old DG834GT.

      Hi.

I know I'm way late to this FW party, but I'm wanting to update my V1 sky box and the link you provide isn't there anymore. Do you have another link or the file at hand?

      Thanks, Drew

      ^^^^^^^^
What is your present FW version? If you are running Sky firmware it would be updated automatically.
