Re: Sky Phase 1 Firmware upgrade confirmed!!!!

HI guys, I don't write much, but have been watching this thread intently, I'd like to share my experience:

I live near the Mile End exchange in London. I appear to have been upgraded over night, and have a number of problems.

I can no longer log into my router, not with admin/sky or the account details I set up myself. My network is effectly down, my wii, media streaming, NAS storage etc are all having trouble communicating with each other (ip addressing seems to work to some degree but no named addressing).

I called sky and told them the problem and that i suspected I may have had a firmware upgrade. the guy on the phone said that he was thinking the same thing, sympathised as he has 3 PS3's on his network and said he would get a new router to me in 3-5 days. no tests, no tech questions, just straight to a replacement.

Hope I get a black one, not gonna hold my breath. I will report back tho.

      Cheers
      Paul

Whilst you are waiting try resetting your router to factory defaults by holding the reset button in for at least 10 seconds.

It might be useful to know what lights are appearing on the router. If the power and tick lights are flashing alternately, it might be possible to recover the router. If the power and tick lights are flashing together, or not lit up at all, then the router wouldn't be recoverable without specialised equipment.

Re: Sky Phase 1 Firmware upgrade confirmed!!!!

      I have been updated.

I'm back to having difficulty maintaining max speed, and getting dropouts.

On the old firmware I could set a target Noise Margin to self-cap my speed (thus getting a decent and reliable connection).

That doesn't seem to work on the new firmware.

Anyone found a way to do it?

Not yet,but I'm sure James is itchin to get goin
I think you should be able to go back to the Cu version and tell the router to ignore updates, again I'm sure someone more qualified than me will advise how.

Re: Sky Phase 1 Firmware upgrade confirmed!!!!

As soon as I can, after my router gets its upgrade, I'll be aiming to release a flash image for the new firmware, and start working on a CU3 release, based on the new firmware, but with extra features such as changing the target noise margin and stuff like that.

The CU2.04 firmware doesn't actually block updates. It would be interesting to see what happens if it is put onto a router which has been upgraded to V1.03.87 - will it stay at CU2.04 or will it eventually just change back to V1.03.87? Although I couldn't possible ask anyone to try that - there's just too much that can potentially go wrong.

Start -> Control Panel -> Programs -> Turn Windows features on or off. Scroll down the list to Telnet Client, tick the box next to it and click on OK.
