Telnet into the router again and type the following command...
      Code:
      cat /tmp/debugaa

ofcourse not this just forces the router to search for the new FW. The update server will only give out the new FW based on two factors.

      Exchange
      Time (usually off peak).

Re: Sky Phase 1 Firmware upgrade confirmed!!!!

Well, who knows what Sky's criteria are for whether the update server hands out the updated firmware. Sky can't just make updates available in the early hours of the morning, because then people who switch their router off at night would never get the update.

I was surprised from the outset that Sky were doing this in groups of exchanges, because I'd be very surprised if the update is fetched from equipment actually located in the exchange. But because the only way Sky can trigger an update seems to be by making the update available and then dropping the ADSL connection, I can kinda see why they are doing it that way. Taking that idea one step further, it's possible that the update server only ever gives out one firmware update on a single telephone line.

But like I say, who knows?

That means that the router checked for an update, but the server refused to give it out.

Re: Sky Phase 1 Firmware upgrade confirmed!!!!

I wonder if as you said it will only give 1 update per phoneline. Though what if you had to reset the modem? or reload the firmware off the cd?

Re: Sky Phase 1 Firmware upgrade confirmed!!!!

Yeah, it does seem a bit hard to justify that "one update per phoneline", but I could never really understand why they include a recovery utility on the CD. In the case of the V1 routers, it will be out of date after the upgrade, but the CD supplied with the V2 router had out of date firmware images for both routers anyway.

I guess it's just another way of making life difficult for Sky's broadband customers...
