I use a cheap SMTP service from Dyndns.org It costs something like 15dollars a year to be able to send upto 150 mails a day. With the exchange rate thats less than a tenner.

      https://www.dyndns.com/services/mailhop/outbound.html

Been using it since I got my Sky BB connection for a mail server I have at home with no problems at all.
There is no p in Thomson.

I'm not sure where this would be leading me? I don't want to use Google mail - simply to find a way of using my existing e-mail prog with my private domains. Are you saying that by going through the registration process I would then regain access to a smtp server?

Signing up with google apps enables you to use google as an smtp server for your domain email. I use google apps for 2 of my domains. You can access your mail online or through your email client on your pc.

Thanks - Does it add any headers or footers to the e-mails - and is there a max size for messages would you know?

I'm with 1and1 and I thought I could just use their auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk but I can't get the password verified using Turnpike :-((

      Cheers

No, it doesn't add anything to headers/footers

Have a look here James, should tell you all you need to know, look under email

      Google Apps for Administrators

Just to add, if you only want to use google apps for your email you only need to change MX records with your domain host. Changing CNAME records is only if you want to use the other services

Having spent quite a few hours last night puzzling over this conundrum I have discovered that my domain hosts do have their own smtp server, so I have simply reconfigured my mail gateway to use theirs and problem solved - so sorry to have bothered you. OTOH your advice may well stand some others in good stead!

      Cheers,

      Re: Farewell smtp.sky.com - HELP!

Can anyone help me! Since a few days ago, i am unable to send any emails from my outlook account. I use sky broadband and think this may be due to the smtp.sky.com server being down.(after reading through this forum). I am a novice and would really appreciate simple instructions as to what to do. Currently my pop3 is popsupanet.com and my smtp is smtpsky.com. In my advanced settings the port number for incoming pop3 is 110 and outgoing smtp is 587.

I would really appreciate and help or suggestions anyone may have

      Thanks

Have a read of this guide as it gives you clear instructions in how to set up Outlook:

New Sky Email SMTP and POP Settings (powered by Google)

Thanks for the information, the problem is i do not have a sky email account, my account and pop server is Supanet. After reading through the information above, it all relates to having a sky email account.
