      Sky Reach 1.5 Million Customers

We have had unofficial information given to us, quoting that Sky have now reached the 1.5 million Broadband Customers mark. If this is true, and going by ISPreview's Statistics, this would move Sky up to the 5th Largest ISP in the UK. Currently at number 5 is Orange with 1,142,000 customers.

      1. BT Retail 4,074,000
      2. Virgin Media 3,590,000
      3. Carphone Warehouse 2,500,000
      4. Tiscali (Pipex) 2,000,000
      5. Orange 1,142,000
      6. Sky Broadband 1,000,000
      7. Kingston Comms 195,255
      8. Tesco.net 132,000
      9. THUS Group (Demon) 126,000
      10. Entanet 80,000

Figures taken from ISPreview and there is no indication of when these figures were last compiled.

That is pretty good going concidering that Sky are still a relatively new ISP and especially against some of the others on the list.

And based on those figures quoted there is almost 15 million households with broadband, almost half the households in the country.

It would be interesting to see if Sky are getting geniunely new customers or just people jumping ship from another ISP.

Re: Sky Reach 1.5 Million Customers

For most people moving away from Sky should be a no brainer if you link your mobile phone deal to broadband. Orange has been great for me - for under 30 you get 600 minutes plus free broadband. Not sure if this deal is still on - I have had this for a over 2 years now. This also explain Carphone warehouse Numbers. Sky broadband has lots of operational problems - Netgear freezing etc

Not for me it doesn't. It did take a while to get things sorted to be as perfect as they are now.

Not for me either, My Netgear V1 (with UPnP Disabled) was rock solid and same with the Sagem V2. They are perfectly fine.

If Sky have 1.5Million Customers as of now, Im pretty sure they will be able to break their target of 3 Million by the end of the year (or early next year) compared to their target of 2010 (As I reckon if they get the promotion for Lost right and other shows, They could potentially get tons of new customers, Those that really didnt care previously and also those that do join, Will end up getting the See, Surf, Speak bundle adding to the Broadband).

Re: Sky Reach 1.5 Million Customers

I'd imagine that Sky will be measuring the success of their broadband service in terms of how many new Sky TV subscribers they get. I doubt whether the profit margins on BB Mid and Max are very large, and with Base and 5 Connect customers they're actually making a loss.

Re: Sky Reach 1.5 Million Customers

The speed of the growth of Sky Broadband is even more impressive
      than the numbers.
It seems like yesterday that I read they had reached 1 Million.
