V2 Netgear Hacked - Username and Password is there

Ever since the new routers appeared it was made unofficially clear to us that the router was fairly unhackable, and that any attempts to flash or meddle with the router, could render it useless.

Tonight, however one of our users, James67 can now take the credit for achieving the first working FW for the new Netgear V2 Router, which shows your username and password.

      In a thread here:

      DG934G Source Code

Following James67's instructions it is now possible to obtain your username and password for the Netgear V2 DG934G Router.

Simple tutorial here: SkyUser - The Unofficial Help and Support Forum for everything Sky! - Username & Password from a Sky DG934G Router

What will be interesting now is, how will Sky react to this? Is this the start of MAC blocking or suspensions of user accounts for those in breach of the Terms and Conditions, by using your own router?

SkyUser make this information available in the interests of our members. Please do not upgrade your FW unless you fully understand the risks that it could go wrong and render your router useless. Please remember also, that it is against the Terms and Conditions of Sky Broadband. You also run a high risk of having your Broadband Connection suspended as well as receiving no Technical Support.

Re: V2 Netgear Partly Hacked - Username is there

We have now received a PM showing us the username and password of the V2 Netgear Router.

We can confirm that it would appear that is possible to retrieve the Username and Password of the Netgear V2 router.

One wonders what Sky have to say, Considering that the new router would "never" reveal the details

We would like to point out that we have made the info available in the interests of our members, and have absolutely no intentions of hosting the FW.

If you wish to make use of it, you will have to find the links yourself and hopefully we will not get asked to remove the links.

One has to wonder if Sky will now introduce Vendor checking on syncing with the DSLAMs. Like you say this router was supposedly unhackable.

      goods news.
Just hope I get the netgear version now then, rather than the Sagem.

Also, is it possible to put the firmware on the router, get the username and password, then flash it back to the sky firmware?

Re: V2 Netgear Hacked - Username and Password is there

As the router is reported to be so good and the majority of Sky users would not be interested in using their own, why not give the details to anyone requesting them with a warning that they will receive no technical support if they use their own router.

      Hi

      You mean us or Sky?

afaik We have made it clear in red writing on every aspect of revealing the details from updating the firmware? Or could we be clearer?

Oh well, the router came today its the sagem.
Any chance of that getting hacked? lol.

Doesn't really matter, as from what I've read, the sagem is pretty stable. But it would have been nice to have the option of getting my username and password.
