I have the new Netgear DG934G wireless router. It works fine connected via ethernet but I get hardly a signal when used downstairs on my laptop, shows 'signal very low'
I have tried to tweak in the settings but I can not find any wireless settings options in the set up.

Im not sure yet which one it is I will be receiving, but one thing I am wondering or hoping for is, are youa ble to alter the default password for the router?
It is possible to access wpa although granted given the area it would be unlikely, but then I have always been a security freak.

Re: Sky send us both new routers to review

      Hi there

Just come over to Sky Max from Freedom2Surf. Have new Sagem router and all is well except Orb (streaming media server) which worked fine on old rotuer / broadband setup will not now connect to main Orb server. All required ports are open on new router (same setup as old router).

Any ideas welcome! Or does Sky "block" Orb traffic?

FURTHER NOTE: Uninstalled Orb 2.0 and then installed Orb 1.0. Worked fine - but 1.0 doesn't have the uPNP media server I use for PS3 on my home network. Uninstalled and reinstalled Orb 2.0. Doesn't work.

I'm starting to strongly suspect that it is a Sky issue - perhpas proxy or firewall at sky?

      ANY comment / ideas welcome!!

      Thanks

Re: Sky send us both new routers to review

New Sky routers? Will all Sky broadband customers be getting one? I've been on sky since last year November so will I be getting one if yes when? Or how can I order one?

Re: Sky send us both new routers to review

It's hardly likely, think of the cost...Sky are, apparantly, going to issue a firmware update which will bring our creaky old, "version 1" routers to the same as that of the new ones though. Maybe once they run out of the old kit, any broken ones will get replaced with new - I had to order one when mine died week before last. It arrived this morning. Version 1 and obviously not new
