      Hi Michael

We understand your frustration, however this has been common knowledge for nearly 15 months, as well as quite clearly stated in the Terms and Conditions. Or did you not read them?

Not being pedantic, and it is something we have campaigned for for ages, but it would appear Sky do not want to know.

If you get the black router, seriously there is no need to have your username and password to even try another router.

edit: If you have the white V1 router, you can get the username and password out of it, but against the T and C's but then you could use your own at your own risk. Until the new FW comes out which will block any of the known methods. Although from what we understand, is reversible.

I did read them after I had signed up and started to see all the info on here and DSL zone.Like I said all the other ISP's I've known have sent my login information in my introduction letter so had no reason to think Sky would be any different. Then received what appears to be the new Sagem router which can't be flashed yet!!!

After the last 8 or so weeks trouble I had with Orange I finally thought I would move, especially as my exchange had just been LLU'd by Sky and this has just taken the shine off it a bit.Why do these big companies have to make the little, simple things so bloody hard

If I treated my customers like this then I wouldn't have any left before long, but they know they can get away with it because 50 or 100 customers in a million mean nothing..........

Oh well i'll just wait till someone hacks the router for my little kick in the ankle bone to Sky...Their bloody speeds and router better be good after this or there'll be hell to pay to some pour sod on the other end of the phone

Seriously, if Sky's speeds ain't better than Orange I'll pay a months broadband for you, as long as you are on Base

The Sagem was solid for me, giving me the best ever wireless connection speed on my Laptop.

Re: Sky send us both new routers to review

I recieved the Sagem today aswell! (As a Replacement) and all seems well so far.

Something I have just noticed, The Log is now alot more informative.

      Quote from Log;

      Jan 1 00:00:35 (none) user.crit kernel: eth0 Link UP.
      Jan 1 00:00:35 (none) user.crit kernel: ADSL G.994 training
      Jan 1 00:00:35 (none) user.crit kernel: ADSL G.992 started
Jan 1 00:00:35 (none) user.crit kernel: ADSL G.992 channel analysis
Jan 1 00:00:35 (none) user.crit kernel: ADSL G.992 message exchange

Also, It would seem telnet is opened as default and doesnt need enabling...

Re: Sky send us both new routers to review

Just plug your Sky router in, it has the username and password hardcoded into the router for connection to the internet, so will just connect.

You can then access the router config by using admin and sky as the username and password.

But I need to enter my ISP's username and password into the Wii and Xbox so that it will connect to the internet through the router

Question Re: Sky send us both new routers to review

      Hi
I have just received the sagem today & am now waiting for my line to be enabled. I had a quick flick through Sky's Broadband set up guide & noticed it told you to set your wireless enabled pc to wpa encryption however my Daughter has a Belkin adapter which only supports wep encryption, would I be right in thinking this would be able to be changed over once you get in to the interface eg 192.168. etc.
