Wireless still showing as excellent. And the connection is rock solid. And the UPnP works

Looks like Sky have got it right with the v2's

If the PC is almost directly above the router, it might be worth not having the router aerial upright. This is contrary to the usual advice, but in your case, it would be worth trying having the router's aerial in a horizontal position.

I think the new router doesn't have an aerial?

Is it me, or are the designs of the new black routers, worse than the "old" white netgear one?

im worried about this firmware update ,i have to manualy alter the noise margin from 7 to 8 using the utility program to get the router to stay stable ,how will i do this if the utility no longer works ? or will the update solve this problem ? i m happy with the way the router is working now i wish they would'nt force this update on me

The new FW should sort out the majority of problems with the V1 routers. We are of the understanding that this FW will bring the V1 router up to the software level of the V2's.

Re: Sky send us both new routers to review

Having tried both routers for a couple of days each, I am pleased to report that they are both solid in operation. No drop outs whatsoever on Wireless and both routers have maintained my connection with out any disconnections whatsoever. Both routers also perform well in testing downloads, uploads and everything else that I have thrown at them.

If I had the choice of choosing one to use as a New Customer, I would prefer the V2 Netgear one, over the Sagem, purely for the advanced wireless settings as it would be easier to set up. Saying that though, there is not a huge difference and it would only add an extra minute or two to set that particular section up.

My overall opinion is that Sky have got both of these routers spot on. Looks, performance and stability are all there. The other problem with the V1 of over heating appears to have been eradicated on the V2 and both operate, warm to the touch, not hot, when laid down flat.

Re: Sky send us both new routers to review

For those that have already upgraded their router to the latest firmware, will Sky still be able to upgrade them?

My router is currently running UberGT firmware, will this be a problem?

Does anyone know where to get a copy of the original Sky firmware to downgrade the router back to how it was supplied?
