Thanks for helping us hit a million

Thanks to you, this week at Sky Broadband, we’re celebrating another milestone. We’ve just connected our one millionth customer, making us officially the UK’s fastest growing broadband provider.

Ever since we connected our first customer in August 2006, our objective has been clear - we wanted to provide you with a service that offered choice and value. This is why we were the first UK broadband provider to provide you with a free wireless router, the first to provide 12 months free McAfee security and the first to offer you the option of professional home installation across all products, all at prices that can save customers money.

For one million of you to have chosen Sky Broadband so far is a great compliment as is uSwitch naming our service as ‘the best value for money’ internet service provider in the UK. However, we’re still constantly evaluating ways in which to further enhance your Sky Broadband experience, and your feedback on the forums has helped us with this.

We read your comments about the Sky Broadband email service and used it to develop Sky Email and Tools with the people at Google and Snapfish. This enhanced service gives you 10 free email addresses, almost inexhaustible email storage, the ability to instantly message your friends, Sky Photo to help you manage your photos online and advanced Google search technology. We’ve also recently redesigned Sky.com with quick access login for Sky Email customers and lots more content.

A number of you will already be enjoying the benefits of this improved service, but if you’re not yet, hold tight and we’ll be in touch soon. All of our Sky Broadband customers will be using the new Sky Email and Tools service by the end of the year.

While current Sky Broadband settings suit the majority of online gamers, for those of you with a penchant for 1-2-1 gaming, we’ve read your requests for a broadband solution that frees you from pinging. Interleaving is used to provide line stability and is the better option for the vast majority of our customers. However we want to maximise satisfaction amongst all our customers which is why we now have measures in place, should you wish to change your settings to a fast leaving line.

Thanks again for your support and help in developing Sky Broadband from a fledgling service into the UK’s fastest growing broadband provider.

Considering that Virgin is apparently the largest ISP in the UK at just over 3 million customers, I expect they would be very worried that Sky has done 1 million in just over a year.

They will begin to worry if in 12 months time Sky are still growing at the same rate or if Sky starts showing moves to invest in it's infrastructure so that it can actually properly handle the customer base. Up till then it's a case of wait and see how many customers get fed up with issues that they are facing and leave Sky.
If Sky continue to grow and the infrastructure continues to be invested in then there may well be a price war on the horizon which can only be a good thing

Now only if we can get Sky to do static IP's as well as a Block of 8 IP's and increase the upstream speed to 1Mb or even 2.5Mb (Annex M) then for me Sky would be perfect.

      oh and in addition..

The ability to use your OWN router without fear of breaching the T&C's of Sky's BB contract.

Were they referring to allowing the max delays to be reduced there or are they now putting people on fastpath at their request?
