DLM sets delays to 8ms quite often, yes.

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

okay thanks for the fast reply, i was just wondering as i phoned up and that, they also said my speed cant get higher, look at this (my current stats):

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Line Attenuation 43.0 db 25.0 db
Noise Margin 7.2 db 14.2 db
Connection Speed 5023 kbps 796 kbps

compared to this (stats before this)

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5575 kbps 945 kbps
Line Attenuation 43.0 db 25.0 db
Noise Margin 7.4 db 11.4 db

They guy said ithe current stats are at my lines max speed, even my upload, he told me to reset my router and it syncs in exactly at the same 5018-5022 download and 794-798 upload, im sure theyre capping me

I left a reply to your thread that you have running, but in a nutshell the guy you were talking to is an idiot. You're capped at 5024/800 adsl2plus.

This isn't working for me, for the last two weeks it's been terrible with upto 300ping, i requested this 8ms and it improved it for about a week then it went to hell again. High Ping, High Jitter but no packet loss

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

Hi everyone. Just found this forum, (which I'd forgotten about..whoops ) when I did a google for Sky broadband and poor pings.

I play COD a lot and to be honest the ping on my line is killing me. It fluctuates between 80ms and 120ms. I can see from this thread that some people have had luck in getting their ping time reduced, but also wanted to know if there is any way I can get my upload speed increased as well. I upload a lot of videos to YouTube and the .65Mbps upload is waaaaay slow.

I'll post some router and line stats below as I can see people have been asked to pop them down.

      Done via speed test
      ping: 113ms
      D/L: 6.98Mbps
      U/L: 0.65Mbps

      Taken from router homepage

      Type:Interleave Path
      Status: SHOWTIME

      Downstream: 8190Kb
      Upstream: 796Kb
Noise Margin: 7 downstream 15 upstream
      Output power(dBm): 120 downstream 184 upstream
      Attenuation(dB): 42 downstream 24 upstream

There is room for improving your upload speed and a call to Sky will sort this out. Keep in mind though that uploading or downloading at your connections maximum capacity while gaming will degrade your ping.

While you are on the phone, ask Sky to put you on the gaming profile. In technical terms this is achieved by reducing your max delays to 8.

Thanks for the reply. I was aware that downloading or uploading while playing online affects things. As I've found out on several occasions thanks to people in the house downloading movies from Sky's new download service and not telling me Grrrrrrr lol

So they have a specific gaming profile that they can put you on? Wasn't aware of that at all. Do I have to contact Sky directly or can I submit any sort of form through my sky account? Do I have to quote anything to get the advisor to do this. You know what they're like. They just follow scripts and when you ask them something that isn't on their little script they don't know what to do.

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

I'd say you're probably already set to 8ms delays ('gamer profile'). And not all of us 'follow scripts', by the way.

You gaming wirelessly or via ethernet cable?
