Right good and bad news to report

Firstly my ping is still excellent after the max delays were changed!
Secondly my connection has suffered (Which is not a major problem) and i did know it could happen.

I have had a pretty strong 16meg connection since the start and not had a single problem until the day i had my ping reduced now every night without fail my router cut's me down half a meg!

It makes pretty much naff all difference really but i thought you all should know that it is possible your connection speed will suffer! I know it is already stated somewhere in this thread but it is a reality that you should be aware of...

It should only cut you down once or twice, until the router finds its stable speed. That is unless you boot at a quiet time and raise your speed again.
If it is not doing that, being a gamer, you might be better asking Sky to put a permanent cap on your line to stop the drop outs. We don't want a drop out just when you are going to blast the baddy do we?

Ha, I remember back when I first got Sky. I received constant 'LCP time-outs' - I would have a very good connection and would always be randomly picked to hos the game on Xbox. Then halfway through, everyone would disconnect. x)

just took out a sky bb contract max unlimited and when playing bf2 i had a ping of 300 plus checked router stats and only had 9 meg when it should be 11-15 meg.
found a 0800 number rang got some person asking were my router was all the crap they read of a dummy board name shoe size name of pet you know the stuff.
finally got through to CST team and within 1 min had 16 meg and a ping of 28 whey did they just not do it the first time lets see if it stays like that.

they should have looked at your stats.I would have checked your physical setup, if it had been ok would have been sending you to cst within 2 mins to reconfigure your line

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

After 4 days of waiting for my email regarding my max delay request, i finally have them set to 8!, only problem they decided to cap me at 10235, from my 17225!!! Thats one hell of reduction just to get better ping times! I just don't know if i can be bothered with all the hassle of customer services....again! sigh...

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

Called them this morning and they managed to get my ping from 48ms to 26ms and also raised my connection speed from 8.5mb to 9.7mb. Awesome. Very happy with Customer Service, whole process took less than 10 minutes.

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

Rang sky yesterday afternoon, the guy didnt have a clue what max delays were and said he couldnt pass me on to anyone else as there wasnt a fault on my line and still within first 10 days of activation - wasnt very happy

Filled in the technical support email straight after the call and recieved an automated response with a few questions on. Completed those and added that I wanted max delays reduced to 8 and sent off the mail. I recieved a response this morning that my wish has been granted and I now have far superior pings - as long as they stay this way during the evening I'm well impressed - especially as its still within the 10 day DLM zone.

There is no charge to adjust the MAx Delays, it is just a profile adjustment.
