      Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

      Received reply from Sky.

      My delay has been reset.
      Retested speed at Dublin, and ping is reduced by 30% No noticible difference in gaming pings , but overall looks much better.

      Can ping to London in 26ms

      Thanks to all for the help.

      Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

      Out of curiousity, does anyone considered what the movement onto the 'new network' may mean for pings? Would it, for example, mean that with enhanced control over the equipment me may get further improvements.

      I know that on the same physical line with my previous provider I used to get ping to a particular server farm of 10 to 15ms, my initial pings with Sky were in the 55 to 60ms range, with my MaxLevels adjusted they drops to a reasonable 25 to 30ms.

      So, Sky, what do you reckon, are we in for any further improvements (here's your chance before I jump ship before the 1st of August)?

      I doubt you would see any difference between 15ms and 25ms in any game.

      Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

      yeah only a few screens ping isnt the only factor while gaming, mice, monitors graphics cards all have input lag - the more input lag you have the more screens/frames in game you could loose. so while a ping of 30ms isnt much better than 24ms...better still helps!

      BT - before moving to MAX used to use fastpath, my ping used to be 11ms. ADSL MAx (as we know) uses interleaving which removes errors on the line making it more stable but typically doubles ping, which is why im now on 24ms with sky.

      I did wonder if switching onto their new network they could offer fast path or further reductions - i also wondered if it could make it worse.....

      Post your router stats. Be aware that WOW has some of the worst routing that exists and usually deny that they have any problems when in fact they do.

      Not sure what that means but guessing that you need instructions.

      Log into the router: 192.168.0.1

      User = admin
      Pass = sky

      go to bottom of screen and press "show statistics"

      Copy and paste into thread, this will tell us what you line is like and if there are any problems you need to look into.
