You need to get through to CST and have them place the instruction with BT to put you on Fastpath, there is nothing else Sky can do but request it.

When I was with Nildram, they did this for me, took a couple of days and it cut my pings by 50%

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

      Hi All,

Well I spoke to Sky last night and the T1 person said "Umm you should get around 6meg but your only getting 2.1meg" I said yeah I had a feeling it was slow !

"Ok we'll do some tests on the line and we will call you within 48HOURS!"

Right ok.. Is it possible to speak to someone on T3 about changing me to fastpath

"Umm I dont know what that is, Hold on ill ask someone"
      2 mins past
      "No we dont do that"

So basically im now waiting for them to call be back in regards to my missing 4meg =/

Does anyknow know if these stats look ok ?

      Thanks

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

Your stats are fine, connect is not.

Sky don't do Fastpath, BT do and as you are on a BT product they need to request they put you on it.

You must speak to CST and ask that Fastpath be enabled on you line, other have had it done and it is the only thing that will improve your ping time.

Don't wait for the call, chances are it will never arrive. Call again, after 10:30pm if you can, you have a better chance of speaking to someone who does know what Fastpath is.

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

I don't know why, but you are not syncing as high as you should. I have never seen a sync of 3dbs, you must practically live in the exchange. You should be syncing at 8128, the maximum for Connect and your noise margin indicates that it is not the line that is the problem. I have no doubt that an ISP such as Plusnet or IDnet could sort this out to your satisfaction reasonably quickly, all you can do with Sky is keep trying to get through to CST and hope you get someone who understands Connect. Your line would support 24Mbs with no problem, never mind the miserable speed you have with Connect.

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

That's the point IsItMe is making, you would get 24mb if it were available so there is no reason why you shouldn't top out your connection at 8mb.

You need to speak to CST to get it sorted and you also need tospeak to CST to get on to Fastpath.

Don't let 1st line support fob you off so easily next time, insist that once you have gone through everything they need to you get put through.

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

Ive been reading a lot about sky capping peoples connections - Are they able to cap a "sky" connect service? Or is that all done to BT ?
You don't get capping on Connect, your line will sync as high as it can with stability. What the main beef about with Connect is that Sky will not pay for the bandwidth they require during the peak period. The consequence of this is that they have to 'traffic shape' to share the bandwidth among their users. Again unfortunately, Sky do not do this very well and what happens is that many have their speed reduced or throttled no matter what they have download or what they are actually doing. This is not what they say they will do in their T & Cs, but they do not seem to care.

There are a couple of extensive threads on the forum dealing with this, which you should have a look at. This one in particular sums it up, (Unofficial) FAQ - Sky Connect Users It would be better if you raised any questions about throttling on this thread, so as this one is not 'contaminated' with posts not connected with your problem.

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

As you were requested in your duplicate thread, can you do a BT Performance test Here's how-
Go to BT Performance Tester enter your phone number then your ADSL username. This will do an official BT speed test and show your present profile. Your ADSL username is <the LAN MAC number of your router, no colons, followed by> @skydsl

There is a good chance your Profile is 'stuck', which only BT can fix.
