Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

You need to ask Sky to do this.

Basically you need your Max Delays lowering, either ring Sky or use their online form.

If you wish to contact Sky online instead of using the phone, please use this online form aka Kana.

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

      Hi All,

      My 1st post !

I was just wondering if anyone had tried to lower the delay on Connect ?
If so.. How much of a difference did it make to your ping?.. Below is an post I put on the novatech forum but got no reply =( Any help from you guys would be great

"I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to lower my ping. My ISP is Sky.

I have not adjusted any setting on the router so is there something I could do there ?
To be honest I dont mind losing "Surfing Speed" if I can lower my ping..

Also can/does your router have an effect on your speed ? (I am using a wired connection using an on bored lan)

I am in a build build house so the wiring is all new and I live about 600 meters from the exchange..

I have done a line test and it says I could get upto 6meg ish, Then when I do a speed test it shows just over 1meg ! Im on Sky connect which says upto 8meg =/

Thanks for any help in advance "

P.S Sorry if these questions have been asked before

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

Sky cannot alter your pings on Connect as it is a BT product.

You need to ask Sky to put you on Fastpath, they will then need to contact BT for you to get it done.

As for the speed, Connect is having some issues at the moment but if you post your router stats we should be able to get an idea what is going on.

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

So they would be unable to change my max delay? I spoke to Sky today (but only tier 1 as I am currently at work and cant do there "checks" also means I wont be able to post the router stats till I get home) and she said they cant change me to fastpath.. Have they now changed their rules on this? Sorry I am a total noob =/

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

Connect does not have 'max delays' like SkyLLU, but BT in some cases can change you from Interleave to Fast path. This is where the agent probably got mixed up as Sky LLU does not officially support Fast Path, they seem very poorly trained in the Connect product and tend to treat everything as LLU.

You would probably have to get through to CST to get anything done as they would have to contact BT to ask for the change. I am not certain, but I think you have to be syncing above a certain rate before they will even consider changing you from Interleave to Fastpath.

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

      Ahh I see ok thanks,

Due to my location I cant get any LLU internet so its always going to be basic internet for me, Personally im thinking they wont be able to help me much =( Ive only brought this up as I have just moved house and when I had my BB moved over at point one (just after it was activated) I was getting a ping on about 30/40 which was fine by me !.. Now im getting 60/80 which well isnt as I KNOW i can get lower why shouldnt I?.. So if they fail to help me ill be asking for my MAC code and moving on.. Anyone know the "best" ISP for gaming ? As I said I am a stones throw away from the exchange. So far im learning towards Eclipse, PlusNet or IDNET.. Any views?
      Cheers

It is possible your line was on Fastpath and was unable to support it and has been moved to Interleave. If it is a problem with your line, changing ISP will make little difference as they will all be using BT on the same line. With BT's ADSLMax, the ISPs have little to do with setting the line up, only BT can do this.
