Thank god I have found this website!!!

I've been having this problem for a few months since I switched internet from virgin (bad mistake in my opinion).
I havent been able to play farcry ever since, my ping has rocketed to 140, which used to be 40 on virgin. I get kicked from lots of servers and get accused of cheating alot due to lag. I have been trying to find a solution for weeks and thankfully I have found this website.

I'm going to go send them an email now, do I ask them to drop the max delay to 8 because I have very high ping in games? Thanks for the help.

it would probabaly be quicker if you phone them up, unless you get unlucky and end up with a daft person on the end of the line. Ask for tier 3, tell them you need your Max delay reduced, most probabaly the person you are talking to wont understand what the hell you are on about, so urge them to pass you onto tier 3. When there just tell the guy you want the max delay reduced, you dont really have to give a reason but do so if they try to persuade you not to reduce max delay.

Thats what i did anyway, got it done in like 2 mins.

If they haven't been briefed on max delays and ping calls then they will do nothing of the sort. You will get no where near CST (since tier 3 do not exist anymore and have not for some time now) unless you get someone who has had the briefing (and a lot of oursource staff still have not been given this as Sky has not sorted out what training brief they want to use with them)

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

Hey first thing i would like to say is im new to this forum so be gentle :P

I’m a gamer who really likes playing for fun but i can’t do anymore after changing my ISP to Sky Broadband which is giving me a ping of around 80-120 (which isn’t good enough )

I’m on 16mb connection package as well to let u know

      Here are my statistics
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 310715 276188 0 96342 177449 0:42:29
      LAN 276030 313247 0 180755 104236 0:43:31
      WLAN 231 71 0 0 0 0:43:09
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2688 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 47.0 db 28.0 db
Noise Margin 6.1 db 14.0 db

I was wondering is there any possible way that i can get sky to lower my Max Delay so i can have a decent enough ping to play games. Can i do this without having to put my parents through the agony of ringing sky up?

So is it possible that i could send sky an email even tho im only 16 yrs old asking them to change the max delay down to 8. (giving necessary details)

      Regards Prophet X

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

I set up my broadband wireless router etc this morning on the Sky Mid package.

I went onto a game server, and noticed my ping was roughly 80 (a gameserver I usually played on with BT at about 60).

I googled the issue, discovered this forum, called sky, they changed my Max Delays, and I now receive a ping of between 40 and 50.

Took me no more than 1 hour from finding my ping at 80, to getting it down to 50.

      Thanks a lot everyone
