Talking Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

Hi All , This is my first post

reading through this post i thought that i would have a go,
First time was with an email, but i dont like waiting so i phoned instead,

The 1st phone call only took a total of 15 mins , but they capped my line to about
4000 Kbps , but did drop my interleave depth to 8/4 , but not sure how to tell .

So i phoned back the next day and they capped me at 7000 Kbps , which i dont mind as that is to high for me to many errors,as you can see i got it down to 5920 Kbps to keep it error free.

My ping time to the bbc.co.uk is now 28 ms instead of about 50 and in COD4 on average about 30-35 to uk servers . same for BF2142
So all in all a happy chappy. thanks newsreader for starting this post

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

Hi ive sent the email asking for my max delays to be reduced due to unplayable gaming due to high pings etc, but did not say how much, is this needed or will they reduce it themselves? Also as i have the newest dg934 router i do not get detailed stats so how will i know when its happened ps? Thanks

ping the bbc from the comand promt, make a note of what you get then check over the next few days to see if they have improved it

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

Just followed the advice and asked via the online form last night, today my ping to bbc.co.uk dropped from 83 to 32ms

My connection seems (so far) more stable now too !

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

      Hi Forum,

I, like must of you, believed that my telephone extensions where the best wired extensions in the UK.

To save a few quid on a wifi adaptor, I moved my router next to my Xbox 360.

My connection started to drop every 45 mins. I read this forum and contacted sky by phone which was a waste of time. However the email service is 5 star.

      Sky.com - Sky Help Centre>Contact Us>Feedback - Broadband Kana

They gave me some advice and against my instinct, I followed their guidance. With sync speed checks at points along my phone lines, I found my wiring was s_h_I_te. Hammer drill out and new phone lines laid, my sync speed went from 5000 mbps to 8019 mbps.

They reduced my pings from 85 ms to 35 ms on request. We all like to think we know it all, but I have to thank this forum and Sky Broadband for their support, it’s the best fiver I spend each month.

      Hope this helps.
