on the fone right now and after 20 mins of tier 1 telling me to reset my router even though i am connected, nobody knows about max delay... i had to speak to 4 people just to get put to tier 3 :/

i need to fix my BT line anyway but would of been nice to get max delay put to 8 aswell... anybody know who i can ask to be put onto who actually knows what max delay is?

      poor customer service yet again

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

I am currently getting pings of 62ms for jolt.co.uk and bbc.co.uk

Having problems at the moment connecting to worldinconflict.com via Massgate, wonder if anyone else has problems?
Don't always have problems, sometimes though when logging in and trying to connect to any servers.

      SpeedTest below:

Connection is stable enough for web browsing usually.
Would my pings be improved dramatically via requesting max delay to 8?

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

As a gamer the Max Delay is essential to be reduced. But only if your line is stable enough. Sky should be able to see if this would harm or improve.

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

      Guys,

I'd like a bit of advice if possible?

I rang Sky yesterday (on the 08705 number) and got through to a very nice lady.

She said i had had my line reconfigured as i couldn't connect.

After saying i could connect and haven't had a problem connecting, she found the request i had placed to have max delays reduced.
She said she wasn't that good on this and would ring the technical guys. I was put on hold (no problem) and she came back and said, The technical guys have advised you dont have your max delays reduced. You are currently on 32 and reducing it to 8 would mean that the chances of you getting errors on the line would increase and that i would have a problem with the connection and would be on the phone so much to get it put back it wouldn't be worth it.

So, i guess i have a couple of questions.
Is there a way i can check to see how my connection is etc is there a way i can see from the stats on the router that my connection would probably be ok to get this reduced?

Any help on this would be great

My orignal request has now been closed, and i have to ring up and log another "fault" although i don't have one.

Re: Sky Have Listened To The Gamers

well after being given a load of rubbish (for a better word) from tier1 i managed to get through to a guy called steven from the customer solutions group and he was superb. Someone had put a cap on the line(even being told before it hadn't) and removed it. He has also reduced the max delays to 8 and i'm pinging much better, superb!
Spoke to stevens supervisor to say thanks for the service, much appreciated, hope he gets a reward or something!

top notch but after sweating blood and guts to get through to someone in the know.

Hi, i don't know much about this tier 3 thing so could someone explain to me what it is and if i have to pay more for it? i am currently getting very bad pings on all of my games. For example my friend who is with telewest broadband 2mb gets 140ms on a team fortress 2 server, where i with 8mb sky got over 200ms on the same server at the same time as my friend and it started to jump up to the 500's
