      Re: Picnic Broadband?

We have had a few PM's about this. Rumour has it, it is been aimed at the Freeview customers. (approx 10million)

As for training, what training could they need?

Surely a price list next to the phone would do. What makes it stranger is why? After 12 months people are still complaining about support / procedures, and obviously Sky have still quite not got that bit right yet.

So adding a potential 10 million customers to their service, is going to make it harder to get support than it is now.

      training?

A big part will be if it uses the same software - Sky's software causes a good 90% of provisioning issues (pending cancels etc). If it doesn't, as expected, its gonna need software training. I'm speaking from a provisioning point of view...

The whole point of this is to get away from the "Sky Broadband is crap" ethos - therefore, I'm pretty certain its going to begin with a new operating style and procedures, to get away from the current problems...

      Re: Picnic Broadband?

dont forget the potential for broadband/freeview with a telephone line when sky launch there phone line rental service so packages could be.....

      Broadband on a monthly contract
Brodband and freeview 12 month contract i would imagin
Broadband, freeview and phone line with a 12 month contract
and with VOD around the corner who knows where it could end up
if i was another isp i would be very worried

      Re: Picnic Broadband?

Its still not making sense to me...

Freeview... Sky have freesat, which they have more control over - surely something like freesat with Box Office would suit them better.

Broadband (Picnic) - launching it under a seperate name; they already own UK online....

Just seems a bit of a disjoined plan!

perhaps they have plans to phase out UKonline? after all UKonline not got the best of reputations so a fresh start would make the share holders happy?

I'm not too sure, from what I've heard UK Online is going from strength to strength (commercially) since Sky's takeover. Thats the main reason I think picnic will use a different system and team; UK Online, whilst using Easynet/Sky's network is operated entirely separately, with absolutely no staff cross overs...

Plenty of unintended scope for humour -- along the lines of "NO Picnic" or mentioning wasps.
