      Reduction in Sky Installation Costs

Sky has changed the cost of installation which is effective as of today. There is now a one off 30 installation charge - regardless of what package or combination of products is bought. Further to this there is no activation charge for broadband when a product bundle is purchased.

This applies to new and existing customers, whether they buy TV, upgrade equipment or buy Broadband only.

This one off cost means that consumers can now get a bundle of TV and Broadband for 30 which is a 40 saving on the previous price of 70!

Good news provided the quality doesn't start to suffer eg. engineers using cheaper quality cables etc. Do you know does this also apply to engineer call out fee's for repairs?

I don't suppose I will get my 'activation' fee back when I went on Connect for my broadband ?

Re: Reduction in Sky Installation Costs

I was only charged 20 for activation when I signed up for Sky Mid on 10 July, so I don't understand how today's announcement is considered to be a cost reduction. Presumably I would have been charged 30 if I had waited until today to sign up. Or am I missing something?!?

Re: Reduction in Sky Installation Costs

Activation and Installation are 2 different charges.

If you had bought a Sky box, you would have been charged 60.00, as from today it is 30.00.

So for example if you had ordered a Sky box today, instead of paying (installation) 60.00 (Broadband activation) 20.00 totals 80.00 you would now pay 30.00 saving 50.00 - if that makes sense?

Re: Reduction in Sky Installation Costs

Not happy with them charging 30 as an installation charge for BB on top of the activation fee. Got my MAC code from my ISP today and was going to use it to subscribe to Max, until the website showed that the 30 charge would apply....

I have a full Sky package, use Sky+, have multiroom and use Sky Talk and I'd be happy to have the BB too, but not with a 30 charge added on top.. to me this is just another charge I could do without.. gonna have to re-think my BB plans...

I don't wish to sound rude, but why are you letting Sky install your Broadband?

It takes all of about 1 minute to install it yourself, and if you get stuck we are here to help. Seriously it is very easy to do it yourself.
