it was FREE activation a few months ago and half price for 3 months on your chosen package. So it hasnt been reduced only for recent costs i guess.

I would never pay anyone for activation these days

The website called it an installation charge - I'm fully intending to install it myself...

Anyway, called them last night to see what was going on.. they said it was an activation charge and couldn't be waived. I conveniently pointed out that it was still showing as free on parts of the website, to which they replied they couldn't offer it without the activation charge as the system hadn't been updated yet and to call back today (guess what, the websites been fully updated now... ). I can guess how the conversation's going to go tonight already...

EDIT: All sorted now and no activation fee paid..

Re: Reduction in Sky Installation Costs

I'm confused. We have registered our interest in Sky Broadband and this was before these changes. It used to say that it was free activation for the max package. Has this changed?

Also, is the self installation option still available?

Basically what I'm trying to say is, will subscribing to Max be different now to what it was a month ago?

Yes - Activation used to be free now it is 30.00 (unless you buy something else) And from what I can make out. You maybe better ringing them to confirm though.

      You can still self install.

Re: Reduction in Sky Installation Costs

Home installation 50, activation is 30 on all packages now. Its an offer that really should have been 'new customers only' as the only way you'd save money is being on Base or Connect, or by purchasing a TV installation at the same time...

Re: Reduction in Sky Installation Costs

Please note that the current one-off set up fee of 30 (TV installation and BB activation fee) is to continue until further notice.
