Re: Exclusive Pictures of the New Sky Router

It may "look nice" but will it 'do the biz' or will it just be another sky router ( full of alleged problems for some ) in a different box? Personally, like some others here, mine isn't broke so i'll stick with my netgear and await the results to see what whinges appear 'if' Sky roll this router out.

Re: Exclusive Pictures of the New Sky Router

the other ports may be for IPTV or other on demand services as i am with be now and have been for a while and on be's router there is a video port and has had no use so be are shipping templates out to enable all 4 ports and are usually reserved for video but be have no plans for futures

just my thought maybe IPtv/VOD

if not they just be left unused till someone cracks firmware

Re: Exclusive Pictures of the New Sky Router

Lets face it, there is nothing wrong with sky's current router!

The problem lies with the firmware and the lack of fixes within it by both Netgear and sky!

After all it's taken Netgear nearly two years to release their current generic version update and the list of bug fixes is minimal!!!

So Sky choosing them to supply the next model in my opinion is plain stupid!!!

Thumbs up Re: Exclusive Pictures of the New Sky Router

Sagem router for Sky is named F@st 2504 as I have heard. This might be a specific code name for Sky.
Rumors say the different colors are dedicated for specific services (VoD, VoIP, fixed-mobile convergence). Don't know what to think and what Sky is preparing.
What I can say is that the choice of sagem is a good point as I know those guys from a previous life and they are really professional! I'm confident in the product so.

Re: Exclusive Pictures of the New Sky Router

Think the Netgear one will not be that much better than the current model to be honest!

SAGEM may be better, if both are new models then I think the chances are both will have some minor problems. Most new devices do, I guess it comes down to who is better at fixing them and releasing the firmware to sky in a reasonable time!!

Overall I would put my money on the sagem being the more reliable one as their history speaks for itself but you never know!

Re: Exclusive Pictures of the New Sky Router

I finally managed to put in my migration order on Sunday. It's supposed to be complete sometime at the end of July (online BT tracker indicates 25th July).

I guess I've ordered just before these new routers will be handed out. Oh well.
