Everything we know is in this thread

Exclusive Pictures of the New Sky Router

As for release to Joe Public, absolutely no idea. Sky are still trialling the automatic update via the Internet.

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

The new Netgear V2 router has had it's firmware reversed this evening, from the last one updated to the previous one before. Maybe they have found something wrong with the update?

We believe that the current FW for the Netgear V2 is now V1.02.28.

Are these still in testing? I've just ordered Sky BB so I'm just curious whether I'll get an "old" router. Can't say I'd be that bothered unless the new ones do have whizzy new functionality like the VOD or n wireless.

Still been tested, it's the white V1 router still at the moment.

Neither of these functions are on the new one.

will sky be replacing the old router that we have with the new one or will it only be available to new customers?

Well, VOD functionality will be implemented on a new set-top box platform, for viewing on your TV. If you know what to look for, you'll see that the existing router is already set up to support the multicasting and quality-of-service features needed to support VOD.

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

For VOD to work on the existing V1 with Sky, it would require a FW update, which as far as we understand is not in development at the moment.
