It could be but then what is the point of Sky being able to update the firmwhere on these routers if there are two different makes out there.

I could be wrong however i cannot see them getting rid of all the old routers! Especially since they will have had to pay to get them branded! However i could be wrong!

They have more than one make of Sky TV box, why not routers as well?

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

I don't think netgear routers support the IGMP protocall for multicasting, which is a bit of a handicap for a VOD system. Which might be a reason for Sky thinking about supplying a new router.

Although I don't seem to have anyof the issues that others have had on here, I honestly think that Sky should provide existing customers with upgraded equipment if it is available.

Does that also mean that the likes of Sony should give you a new lcd tv to replace your old crt, or as you subscrivbe to Sky, should sky upgrade your tv for free?

I simply dont understand why people think they are due upgraded equipment for free. Fair enough if your current one is faulty and within warranty, but otherwise if you want new gear, then you should put your hand in your pocket.

I'm happy with my tele at the moment and my 5 year old sky box, lets just hope those good folks at Mercedes are reading as I could do with a better car

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

The new router is going out to the Sky Staff who have signed up for the trial this week.

Apparently it looks similar to a Sky HD box.

Until the trials are over, it is highly unlikely anyone will get one.
