Looks a good router! Does this have to sit next to the Sky box at the TV to use VOD, if so then I doubt I'd get a good wireless connection as the computers are all upstairs some distance from the TV.

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

@Mikey, It would seem the only option would be to use EthernetOverPower as I could only imagine the wireless signal would be effected with the signals and stuff from the TV and Sky box.

Yeah seems a bit poorly thought out IMO ! So unless your PC is next to the TV or your walls are made of cardboard, this new router is going to require some extra spending.

I think it's safe to say it won't be as surely Sky will put their own firmware on whatever 'base' router they choose, therefore making it a hybrid with potentially very different performance and features that the 'normal' router that it is based on.

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

And oddly, my Sky router has worked out the box for the past couple of months - no trouble, horror, downtime (crosses fingers).

I think they'll let people 'buy to upgrade' - especially if it has new features (like VoD) 'cos it would be unfair saying 'oh, and because you got Sky early, you can't use our new services.'

Now, excuse me while I back up my router settings, just incase...

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

Does anyone has some more precise information re the Sagem new router???
There isn't any reference to Sky on Sagem website. Seems to be a secret project, as every new technology jump!

When is Sky planning to ship the first units?
