Is it the Netgear or Sagem?

I know someone who has the Netgear and the wireless on the V2 is working fine from the bottom floor to the third floor.

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

      Hi All,

First post on here, but thought I should post in this thread in particular.

Signed up to a Sky package last week, and now have Broadband activated and working.

I am using the new Router - small dark grey box which looks like a Sky product, but is still produced by Netgear.

Model is DG934G and firmware is v2.02.34.

Current comments - seems to work really well, although it sometimes "freezes" with a yellow connection LED (rather than green) - but I'm hoping this is because my ADSL has only been active for 2 days now, so probably still in the teething phase. (lol)

If this problem continues, I won't be best pleased though. I'm unable to get the sky username/pwd from the box, so will have to keep using the sky router for now.

      Hi Pabs

The orange instead of green normally means the cable is running at 10mb not 100mb iirc

because my ADSL has only been active for 2 days now, so probably still in the teething phase.
If you are on Base, no testing phase. Should just work. Try unplugging the network cable back in again both ends.

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

      Hi mate,

Erm, not quite sure I'm with you on that one I'm afraid?

My laptop is connected wirelessly - nothing is plugged into the back of the router other than the modem cable to the microfilter and the PSU.

It is 99% of the time green (the @ sign LED) but flashes yellow when it negociates the connection.

The router has randomly dropped from a green @ LED while on the internet to a solid yellow - and I then loose all internet connectivity and have to reboot the router as I can't get to the web interface either.

Well that rules the network cable out of the equation then.

      What's the wireless strength like?

      hehe

Wireless - well on my DELL laptop running 54MB seems to be ok - but nothing fantastic - my 3com officeconnect has a MUCH better range IMO.

Unfortunately not managed to do too much testing on the wifi strength, but it seems to cover my 2bed end-terrace ok.
When the laptop battery is charged I'll go for a walk and see if it gets to my garage

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

with regards to the Base connection that I have, my router seems to connect at 2MB most of the time, but I have had a reported connection speed of less than 250kb...... which worries me slightly.

I am quite a long way from the exchange (about 4km line-of-sight) and Sky said my BB connection would be between 512kb and 1.5MB.

So we'll see how it fares over the next week or so.

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

You may be better off posting the router stats.

Sky User - The unofficial support forum for everything Sky! How to get your router statistics

Won't be exactly the same as those are for the V1 but will be similar.

Also because of the distance, it may just need your line capping at a lower speed.

Mmm - what is a DG934G - seems like there is no info about it on netgears site, probably some sky branded clone of the normal router, just in a different box.

What are the specs for this?
