I wonder if Sky are waiting for 11n routers to appear before VOD? The extra bandwidth and throughput requirements might be too much for 11b/g of the existing router? Unless it is made an ethernet only feature?

      Eh? *look surprised*

      *tries something*

Hmmm, no, it looks like you're right. IGMPv2 doesn't work. Why on earth would Sky be putting so much effort into rolling out what is for them a dead-end solution? Seems rather odd, and most un-Sky-like.

I don't think it is a priority at the moment.

Any company that offers free BB and a free router, has to be looking long term anyway.

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

The new routers are being made by Netgear and sagem, they will look the same and be the same specs as each other. The design of the router is similar to a mini HD sky box, the ethernet sockets have individual colours which hints at connecting the sky hd box to the router as the new batch of hd boxes feature a green colour coded ethernet socket.

the same specs as each other
We have been told unofficially that the specs are different, ie different chipsets, so to speak.

However reports from people who are beta testing both the Sagem and Netgear router suggest that they are rock solid and both perform great.

      Unofficially,

The V2 routers have now finished being tested and the Netgear V2 will ship with FW V2.02.34

As for when the V2's will start shipping - no idea. I presume when stocks of the V1 have dwindled.

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

I believe I got the V2 on the 21st, it's a gunmetal grey Netgear that looks like a tiny Sky box. The info inside says it's a Netgear DG934G1.

Won't be using it until I'm migrated over on or around the 25th so not a lot more I can say about it.

      First post, so Hi

Re: The new Sky Router is on its way

We're onto our second Sky router and it's still not working properly (constant dropouts and slow speeds - tried our BT one and it's solid as a rock, which points to the router).

If I phone up Sky tomorrow, would I be able to request one of these new routers as a replacement?
