      Re: Dear Sky Broadband

I was transfered from zen and am set on fast path, although the pings are higher than zen, they are still acceptable to me (about 35-50), if I was on interleave following the rough doubling rule they would be about 70-100 which I would find insufficient.

Please don't change me to interleave.

      Re: Dear Sky Broadband

after looking into it, Sky broadband doesn't even offer `Fastpath'. So how can you be paying extra for a service that doesn't exsist with sky?

The facts are rubbish but they add like this,

      Sky offer amazing TV ok.
Sky offer a talk service which seems to be top notch.
Sky offer anytime, which is still dodgy but geting ther.

      Sky offer terrible broadband!
Should go virgin for Broadband if you can as fibreoptics will always be better than ADSL.

Sky offer some great products, and offer some products they clearly cant keep up with!

      Re: Dear Sky Broadband

I'm glad I dont play games - just the basics of what I need sky to do seem beyond them. I've just found out about "pings" and mine are usually over 100 ms unless its a UK server........and most of the "interesting" stuff tends to be USA

After 10pm the computer now gives me an early bed time as SKY then becomes useless to surf or IM or dl email. The hotmail polls everything 3 or 4 times so I end up with 144 inbox things instead of 40ish and then it loses all its folders.

Now I have to wait FIVE days to get any "help" and I think when it comes it wont really help at all.

      Re: Dear Sky Broadband

Well, like everyone else here, I'm not impressed with my latency.

Have been with SkyBB for about 4 days now and I can no longer play online games on my Xbox 360 anymore

      Here's my result from speedtest.net

As you can see - it's pretty poor to say the least. It reminds me of my 56K dial-up days...

I just don't know what to do now. I switched to Sky & SkyBB to save money on my previous ISP (about 24 a month) and although I know I can still cancel my SkyBB I can't really afford to sign up with a different ISP - as I'd still have to pay the 15 monthly subscription to Sky (which I like)

      I just can't win

Just a comeback from all this, compared to my last broadband company (V21/Biscuit) sky are amasing they offer me relaible broadband for 10!!!, i used to pay 29.99 and used to be down on a weekly basis. I play games fequently and even thought i have elivated pings it dosent bother me, dont get me wrong i would like to have 10 20 ping but its a number.

And as for virgin, none and i mean none of the green boxes are provided with fiber!!, the only part of the neetwork that is even close to fiber is the central network, what to be frank is the same at sky, i know this because i have a freind who worked with NTL/Telewest. Most of the network is provided with coper cable (Coxial).

Back on subject, yes it will be nice and yes sky should be more dynamic and stop being so fixed so that customers can decide how they want there broadband.
