      Re: Dear Sky Broadband

Hi everyone, have been reading the site for a couple of weeks while waiting for my router to turn up (good old Sky !!). Went live on friday 20th. Played a few times over the weekend BF2 and yes the pings are on the high side. Before on 2meg Tiscali pings were about 20 - 30 but now mostly over 60 - not impressed, but need to give my system a chance to settle. Will report back in a couple of weeks. Find it hard to believe that Sky can fix the problem but choose not to. Heres hoping someone sees sense and gives the gamers a break.

maybe we could make it easier for people just to express their opinion instead of having to post a reply ?
      poll :-
on sky - would like to be switched ( line permitting )
not on sky - wont join unless fast offered

ps - if it were a poll could non members be allowed to vote as maybe some of the views are by non members who cant post ?

Good idea but i would ditch the "not bothered" options as they are not really needed , the only people who are likely to want to vote are the ones who like myself are bothered.

      Re: Dear Sky Broadband

      Dear Sky,

I have recently joined Sky Max and am dismayed at the poor response times for online gaming. I cannot believe how sluggish your network is, and I find it astonishing that it performs so badly, despite it originally being implemented by Easynet, a once well-respected and rapid network.

I urge you to please improve the broadband platform, you have the potential to turn this tanker around, turn it into an awesome product and blow the competition away - before it becomes a huge deterrent to most of your customers.

      Regards,
      Stuart.

      Dear Sky

Everyone spends thier free time in different ways.

      Some watch television.
      Some use the internet.
      Some play online games.

Whatever they do to relax, they should be able to do it without stress and free from interruption. Personally, I'm not a gamer, but if I were, I would expect the same level of service as I get from watching Sky television or browsing the internet with Sky broadband.

How would you react if your television picture slowed down or started freezing and was then told by Sky that they could fix it, but it was not thier policy to do so? How would you feel after being told that your free time had, effectively, been ruined for the next year?

I'm sure you are aware that as the number of your customers grows, so the number of complaints will continue to rise. Alienation of the gaming community, many of whom are young and are potential, future, customers, will only add to the numbers of people seeking the use of other, less intransigent, service providers.

      Re: Dear Sky Broadband

I've been with Sky now for about 3 months. 95% of the reason for obtaining broadband was to play online gaming. Sky are my 3rd ISP and my online gaming experience is now absolutely terrible with lag.
I don't understand the terms used on this thread about Interleaved of Fastpath If there is a solution from SKY to help with the lag GIVE IT TO ME PLEASE. I have now obtained a specific gaming router (DGL4300) to see if this helps - if it doesn't I will be contacting SKY to end the agreement and go back to Zen, because poor service is not what I signed up for, I play every night (or try to) and it's not fun anymore!
