Sky Movies has had it's big change today.

Sky Movies have now implemented its planned relaunch, and you should notice some (imho) great changes.

Sky Movies show 450 different movies each week - with fewer poor titles.

The genres are all about navigation and if you have HD the changes are even better. On HD, all the best movies from all of the available genre channels are now shown in this format.

Obviously there are a few teething troubles, the Interactive button is missing, I would presume something to do with the feeds for this and that they are not 100% married together, however I am sure Sky are working very hard to sort this out.

There are a few other minor glitches:

Some links to external sites don't work
The channel order in the left hand navigation doesn't mirror the EPG
There's no planning or scheduling data

From what I have heard this has taken over 2 years to plan and then bring to fruition, but the main question I would like to ask Sky is, Why don't you show a movie preview service on the channels that aren't showing movies yet? ie those that don't broadcast movies until 4pm etc?

Thanks dude, I was under the impression a bit like the Sports, You can pick which channel, You could do so for the movies, A little like Genre Mixes at different costs.

      It looks all good!

I don't like change so this is going to take a bit of getting used to. Not sure there was even any need for change although I guess if you are a fan of a particular genre then it should be easier to locate the films that you want to watch. Me I am not fussed what I watch so the TV guide will be used more to locate the decent films.

Re: Sky Movies has had it's big change today.

I don't know if I like the new channel setup at all. I'm subscribed to Sky Movies 2 package, and before I was able to choose between movies 2, 4, 6, 8 and would always find something to watch due to the mixture of genres on each. Now that they've grouped them by genre per channel, this will reducing viewing pleasure because now, if I fancied an action film, I can only view this on Sky Action/Thriller and if the film is crap, I'm buggered because I don't fancy Drama, or Indie.

Plus I don't like the fact that most of the channels now start from 12 noon and also the lost of 2 movie channels, replaced by Sky Premiere, +1 which I can't view because I'm not subscribed to the full movie package.

Personally I don't know if this is value for money what they've done. I can see the objective of re-organising but for me its had a negative effect. I'll have to give it a few weeks before deciding to cancel my movies completely.

What I really like about this is the way that Sky has told us all about the change.

I have seen absolutely nothing to tell me that the ovie channels were/had changed and can only see some name changes.

      well communicated to me.
(now someones going to tell me it was hidden away in the magazine... if so what page? )

Re: Sky Movies has had it's big change today.

I had a quick glance last night. I'm not a avid watcher of sky movies but i liked the new layout. As suggested by another person if you want to watch a certain type of film scfi comedy etc its going to be easier to find it.

It is featured in the latest Sky magazine and surely you can not failed to have noticed the (many) adverts advertising this across all the Sky channels.
