I take it those with Sky+ before Aug 2005 can go and whistle for this then or will Sky sort soemthing out for us. I have a Pace V2 box with 40GB drive.

It's hardware dependent, so unless you plan to buy new hardware your out of luck.

No doubt they would rip existing customers off as they always do.

So you want today's technology, for 2 years ago pricing?

When I bought a Ford Focus and they upgraded it to the new model, I didn't put Ford down for doing so. I had to accept that we are in an evolving world.

New offers always come around, that's how people sign up, they are attracted by offers. Sky+ looks more tempting for me then it did the day before that announcement.

      @Newsreader

I accept what your saying and fully realise this but say I approach Sky about this and ask for an upgrade, they will charge an arm a leg where as a new customer gets the kid gloves treatment, they show no compassion to the existing customer base.

I may get an HD box some day but not at thos prices and extra subscription, what happened to the dropping of the sky+ charge and reduction in multiroom, seesm quiet on that front.

      Re: Sky Anytime on TV

We don't know whats going on with the pricing yet though.

If I want Sky+ its 99.00 plus 10.00 per month. Although I am totally unprepared to pay this, it is certainly better value for money than it was 48 hours ago.

Those who already have Sky+, I wonder if you could buy another one at 99.00 plus installation? (The installation is the killer imho)

In which case 99.00 for 2 years of use, is about a 1 a week.

However, they may have something up their sleeve?

      Re: Sky Anytime on TV

I tried to upgrade the standard sky box a couple of months agoa and becuase i already have a sky+ box in the household they wanted 99 plus 60 to install.

That is what I am talking about though, no loyalty to the existing customer base. Now that 60 would pay for one more cable to come into the house which my dad would route for th engineer through the house as my folks didn't want cables going all over the outsidem they're fussy like that and for him to site and set up the box.

The only way I was getting free install was if I paid 299 for an HD Box, go figure what they were told to do.

Thats a very simplistic view tbh, the cost to Sky to get the installer out to connect that cable, new LNB and telephone cable comes to a lot more than 60.
First there is the installers wages, then cost of the van, van servicing, road tax, fuel, the installation equipment, the call centre operator wages, field planners wages, the field managers wages, the jeopardy management operators wages, the cost of the booking system, the cost of the route planning system, the cost of stock transport, storage costs, my subsidised lunch and so on.

You get the idea, but it's simply not realistic to expect Sky to offer everyone free equipment or install when they have already benefited from an offer when they first joined Sky.
