SKY HD BOX keeps saying initializing after software update
My father in law's box was updated overnight last Thursday keeps saying initializing.
Have talked to sky the said it was a signal problem RUBBISH.
I power off the box rebooted and the signal is about 90% on input 1 and 2 and both locked.
Because the problem occurred after software update by rebooting it goes back to previous version
I have a engineer coming out on the 17th for free .
It was the software that is causing the problem they should fix it.
My father and mother in law are both in the mid eighties age they are now frightened to put the box in to standby because i am not there to fix it

I and a few other people on here have had this exact issue. The only known cure so far is to perform a full system reset / factory reset on the box.
To perform a full system reset, with the box switched on, you need to press the 'services' button on the remote control.
Then press 0, 0, 1 followed by 'select' to bring up the hidden installer menu.
Select the 'Sys Reset' tab which displays at 'System Reset' when you move across to it.
Finally press the 'select' button again.
Your box will reboot after the 'housekeeping' message goes off.
Everything including all recordings, series links and and selected programs set to record in the future will be deleted doing this though.
My box was doing this every morning after getting the latest update (R017.085.63.06P). Since I performed the full reset, my box is now working again as it should even still with R017.085.63.06P installed.
Sky are aware of this issue, though their only advice so far is to perform the full system reset.

Thanks for the reply.
Was going to do that but they had recordings to watch.
Tried system rebuild did not work.
They will have to watch the recordings before the 17th because i think the engineer will do what you suggested
