      Updating sky box

Hi Guys .Looking to update my Mums sky box.She has the very first sky box that came on the market .Looking to buy something on Ebay that might let her watch on HD and on her other tv in her bedroom also. Lots of great value boxes there but just need advise on what would suit her .I need to be able to just take out the old box and pop in the newer model that would be compatable with her Sky viewing card and dish ..I just bought her a new smart TV so budget a bit tight .Thanks in advance.

Have you had a word with Sky? If it is a very old box they may be prepared to replace it foc.

Is there 1 or 2 cables to the dish? You really need 2 to get the full benefit of Sky+.

Get one of the 890 or 895 models, don't touch anything else as they are not being upgraded. If you want a wireless connection to a router, look for one with a W suffix.

      Re: Updating sky box

If the bedroom TV is being fed by an aerial (co-ax) lead connected to your Sky box then the older DRX890 boxes, without an L or W suffix have an RF2 output to supply the bedroom feed. If you get one of the latest boxes you would also need to purchase an iO-LINK tv-LINK RF out REPLICATOR, currently available from Sky for 10, to connect the second TV.
