      The old white Sky+ STBs and Sky STBs are gradually being phased out.

      I don't have the figures, but I am aware that this policy has been going on for some time and each month there are less and less out there.

      These are being replaced with reconditioned STBs.

      The issue here is that the replacement box is older that the the one it replaced.

      Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB

      Yes, firstly with pvr4's then when they've run out, pvr5's.

      The issue here is that the replacement box is older that the the one it replaced.
      Indeed, which is why i recommended that creeky phones sky to insist that they send a DRX890.
      And not look on ebay as was previously suggested - an idea you apparently liked.

      What you have been told about "slimline" STB is complete lies.
      I would like to know the number you rang and who you spoke to.
      The Samsung model is end of life, they haven't been manufactured for years and they no longer receive software updates, and as others have stated these updates contain massive benefits.
      Any STB being replaced should be done so with an 890WL or an 895WL as these are the only STBs being manufactured now (except SkyQ).

      Sadly Sky won't always replace an old bx with a brand new DRX890WL or DRX895WL.

      Any old boxes will only be replaced with reconditioned boxes. This means that you may well get a DRX890, DRX780 or even a Samsung.
