      Series links not working.

      Hi,
My Sister in law is having a problem, I've taken all the obvious steps to try to resolve but it still won't seem to register Series link requests.
If I set a program to record on series link, i.e, Hollyoaks at 7pm on E4, it shows the recording event in the list and shows the series link icon next to it. When you look through the epg for the next few days, the recordings are not marked and the recordings do not happen.
Not sure at this stage of the model number (although its the Amstrad that burns through viewing cards if that helps) or firmware but if it's important, I can find out tomorrow.
All signals are good, planner rebuild has been done etc, etc and the viewing card is brand new as CS said the rather charred old card was the most likely cause of all/any problems. I knew this was not the case as this also affects FTA channels like BBC1 but the new card didn't seem a bad idea as it had basically done the colour of badly burned toast.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

      TIA

      Yorkie98.

The model and version number from the System Details page may be useful in case the problem is associated with a particular type of box or firmware version. The answers to the following questions could also help with diagnosing the problem:
      1. Has the problem only recently occurred and if so did something happen to cause the problem.
      2. Does a single recording set up beforehand record correctly?
      3. Does the first episode of a series-linked recording record correctly?
      4. If "C" records correctly, is the following episode listed as a scheduled recording in the planner?

Try putting the box into Standby, then power it off completely for a few minutes, then switch on again. If that does not help, try forcing a software upgrade.

Remember series link for future recordings only show for the next episode. ie If you set up a program to record daily the link will not show until the days program starts recording. It will then show the link for the next day.

      Re: Series links not working.

      Hi,
Thanksfully the series link problem seems to have worked itself out, there were multiple instances of some shows so I removed them all and put in just one series recording for each and so far its all been good but the box is now showing a different fault in that it just goes off seemingly at the same time every day, around 4pm, stops outputting a signal, and stops responding to the remote. It requires a power cycle to get it going again and it's about three minutes before its running smoothly again. This box is several years old.
      The Box details are:

      Model Number: R005.054.17.00P
      Version Number: 9F3004
      Serial Number: 0331056XXX F
      Manufacturer: Pace

My wife tells us that our box, a 6 month old 1Tb Amstrad is doing the same thing but at random times.

      Any help appreciated.

      Yorkie98.

Random lockups can occur my rule of thumb is if it works for at least a month between lockups accept is as something that occasionally happens. On the Pace box does the power on led remain green when the problem occurs? Try emptying the deleted item folder and perform another planner rebuild to see if there is any improvement.

Hi, yes, the light does stay green. I will try this and see what happens.

      Thanks.

      Re: Series links not working.

Some have found that the older boxes need a cold start every 2 or 3 weeks to keep them running smoothly. Its a good idea to set some time aside every few weeks to do a bit of maintenance, empty the Deleted items folder, do a Planner rebuild and then switch off completely for a for minutes then back on again.

There is also an Auto Standby setting on the new firmware which puts the box into Standby if the Remote is not used over a period of hours, which some find annoying. This can be turned off on the Sky+ setup page of the Services.
