DRX 780, Samsung and Pace boxes won't be getting DD5.1 over HDMI due to hardware limitations I believe. At the moment sky's stance for the next software update to these boxes is "later in the year".

Really? There's no indication in the first post that when the upgrade comes to the DRX780 it won't include all the same features (in fact it suggests the opposite). The hardware restriction was always rumoured for all the boxes but has been proved wrong for the current boxes providing the feature but there's been no specific info about the DRX780.

Re: More New Features for Sky's EPG

I believe that Sky are still working on the code for the Pace, Samsung and Amstrad DRX780 STBs.

I do not have any details about a possible release date available yet.

Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro: Connected at 80,000 kbps / 20,000 kbps
Previous ADSL2+ Speed 19999 kbps 1153 kbps, Line Attenuation 17.5 db 6.9 db, Noise Margin 7.5 dB 8.7 dB
      Speedtest: 17.15MB/s 0.97Mb/s Ping 31 ms

Re: More New Features for Sky's EPG

This post on the sky help forum I think hints at the opposite. It says that 890 and 895 boxes will be updated to allow DD over HDMI. And that this update is only available for DRX 595 890 895 boxes. Pace Samsung and 780 boxes will get an update later in the year, (doesn't say this update) it sound to me as though those boxes will get an update which contains the cosmetic changes and bug fixes the other boxes have but without DD5.1.

I always thought the hardware can't support DD 5.1 argument was divided for the DRX 890 and 895 boxes.

Re: More New Features for Sky's EPG

It is just as important to read what is specifically not mentioned in that post as it is to correctly read what is mentioned.

That statement does not mention which features will or will not be on the Pace, Samsung and DRX780 STB firmware when it is released later this year. It only mentions what is available with the new firmware for the DRX890, DRX895 and DRX595.

      Please do not misinterpret it.

I wish I could say more, but I do not have consent to post the little information I have and that is incomplete anyway.
