      Upgrade from SKY+ DRX280 to SKY+HD DRX890..Continuing Saga

Hi Group..I have recently posted on this subject before despite getting a lot of help from members Isitme,Scubby and Gymno,I couldnt get my Toshiba DR20 DVdr and AEI Digisender DG200 to work with the new SKY+HD Box and I sent the box back to Sky and reinstalled my Drx280 Sky+ Box. This box has now gone u/s so Sky have given me another DRX890 .I have now replaced my AEI Digisender with the DG400 model and purchased a twin Scart splitter with a switch on it.
I have just installed the new Sky HD Box and connected the DVDR and New Digisender as per GYMNOS suggestion ie

1 Connect DVDR and SKY Box to TV with HDMI cables
2 Plug Scart into Scart on SKY Box and plug other end into DECODER IMPUT SCART on DVDR.
3.Plug DIGISENDER into TV OUTPUT SCART of DVDR.

DOESN'T WORK as can,t get any signal on TV in Bedroom.[tried HDMI 1 and 2 AV1 and AV2 channels nothing not even black screen].
4 Contacted Toshiba support..Informed that there is NO Straight Through Signal Ability, when DVDR is Switched off,so switched it on and still no signal!!!

Tried the suggestion put forward by SCUBBY ie

1.From SKY HD Box take Scart from there to IMPUT Decoder on DVDR

2 From DVDR Output Scart [tv] connect Scart cable of Splitter

3 Splitter A Scart..Plug Scart to AVI on TV

4 Splitter B Scart Plug in Digisender

Signal Should pass thro' DVDR but doesn't when its switched off[see note to Gymno]

Still cant get a signal upstairs on second tv!!!

      ISITME suggested the following.

1 Plug Digisender directly into SKY HD BOX and disconnect the DVDR.

2 Plug HDMI cable into SKY HD BOX and plug other end into TV HDMI

3 BINGO !!!! get signal on TV Upstairs [as Downstairs] but can't alter the Channels upstairs despite new Digisender which is advertised to work with all known Satellite boxes!!

4 Tried various positions for digi eye in front to the left side of eye on SKY BOX,Tried New HD Remote and old Sky + remote No luck!

      Has anyone any further suggestions????

      Michael

Depending on the Scart splitter, some allow all 3 ports to see the same signal, others allow A & B to see C, but A can's see B.

It may be worth checking through piece by piece that:

      a. DVDR is connected in correct order to show image on TV
      b. that both outputs are live simultaneously

It looks like the IR transmitter may be incorrectly placed. I am not sure where the detector is placed on the DRX890, maybe someone can tell you exactly where to place the transmitter.

I checked with SKy and its a small wireless type symbol just to the left of the standby light,so I have tried placicing the Digi in front to the side of that without success..michael

      Re: Upgrade from SKY+ DRX280 to SKY+HD DRX890..Continuing Saga

Hi there I connected it as per your previous answer to my post I.Dont know about the splitter as I got it off e bay and its not one of the very cheap ones it has a button to change the scarts but the scarts are not marked ,so don't know whether both scarts would be live but would guess not as what would be the point of the switch? I havent had much help from AEI they just say that the digi is very sensitive, and just move it around.which is a bit difficult as I dont have anyone else in the house to check the second tv when i move the digi eye downstairs!!! so Im A bit stuck at the moment as I cant use my DVDR or change channels upstairs...Michael

If I wanted Sky in another room I would have thought having a 2nd box installed was a "sensible" solution, even if my original post was tongue in cheek.

Having one more hole drilled in a wall seems much less heartache than your current predicament but each to their own. Good luck, I hope you sort it out.

I don't think that will do what you want. I think you may need both outlets 'live'

It is a sensible idea if more than one person in the house wants to watch different channels, but in a single viewer situation it is an unnecessary expense. Thousands of users use the magic eye solution with no problem.
