I think I've tried 30-40 different codes now, basically all the ones I could find relating to Matsui. Does look like they just don't support this TV. Which isn't really surprising, it is an 8 year old CRT after all. Thanks for the help everyone.

always word for me when i do people tvs try taking batries out and press select for 1 minute then reinsert them

No luck at all with the JVC codes I'm afraid. I take it Matsui are a division of JVC?
