DRX 890C signal lower than Sky+ PVR3 was

Had problems tonight with Sky1 HD getting interferance, so been looking at the signal meter, and it's much lower than the old white plus box ever was.

The very worst I ever got was 1/2 signal during a nasty storm. usually it was around 80-90%.

The new HD box seems to hover around 75% and tonight was dropping below 1/2.

Is the signal tuner poor with the HD boxes? My old box was Thomson, and obviously the new one is Amstrad.

Also, is there an SD version of Sky1 lurking somewhere in case I get this again? All othet HD channels seemed fine though.

Sky 1 & Sky1 HD swap between channels 106 & 170, depending whether or not you have the HD pack.

I would be more concerned as to why your signal has dropped though.

      Thanks.

The only change is the box, and as a check swapped back and signal as it was, so it's definately box related.

In doing the test I bent the pin in one of the connectors.

Straightened and I think it's OK. Doesnt seem any worse! Put that as channel 2.

Feeds 1 & 2 are used all the time, depending on what you are doing.

Perhaps someone else can comment, but it might be worth getting someone in to look at the LNB.

Was this a self-install or did someone install everything for you?

Re: DRX 890C signal lower than Sky+ PVR3 was

Sky did the original sky+ install when we moved in. I self installed the HD upgrade.

When sky put the cable in, they put it over the roof and down the wall. I was hoping to get this routed inside the roof space to lessen the cable run, and stop it rubbing the tiles in high winds.

Wont be easy to do as home is a town house, so means routing cables between roofing and bedroom ceiling with no direct access. I have a plan for this involving some gardening canes and string.

I think this will lessen the cable run by around 3m, but I dont think it'd make that much difference overall.
